I didn’t watch all of it, was too lesbo for me but the look she gives the other lesbo? around 122 seconds in? ❤

Really well made short and acted too, no surprise one or two members of the cast have gone on to have decent careers working in TV/Cinema. I'm kind of glad that it didn't go down the usual tropes that most Lesbian short films go. Like having Maura love Katie and be besotted over her and the love that can never be as Katie is straight or having the friends become girlfriends. I like that Maura just wants Katie as her best friend, nothing more nothing less. Also we don't get any type of tragic ending like someone dying or Maura/Katie drifting apart as friends cause Katie can't accept Maura. Katie needs Maura in her life, she can be mad and angry at Maura but really deep down she needs her. I love Maura knows it too and isn't insulted when Katie is mad at her, she gives her a few days to blow it off. I think it's the fact Maura didn't tell Katie the truth as she is her friend that hurts her the most more then Maura being in love with a girl. I like that Emily isn't made out to be homewrecker to Maura/Katie's friendship. That Emily is a good person and knows Maura is happy when she's with Katie. And Emily wants to be friends with Katie too. Katie clearly sees by the end what Emily means to Maura. I honestly thought at the start that Emily was Katie's sister, just the way they reacted to each other felt like the way siblings at that age would react and slag each other off. Side note, I thought Emily Donahue reminded me of Margaret Qualley a bit in this. Maybe just me.

As a lesbian from tampa bay who wrote "weeki wachee mermaid" as my dream career in my journal when I was a kid, this hit the sweetest spot <3

I still find it challenging to explain to my NY friends why anyone would want to be a Weeki Wachee mermaid! The closest I can come is that they are like the underwater Rockettes of Florida. So glad you liked it!

2 of my biggest observations from this short film.. 1. That pool seemed alot deeper at the beginning and end .. 2. Why the hell are Katie's knees so dirty? 9:23
@kimcummings3 жыл бұрын
Cheryl - Thanks for your questions. 1. The pool is a lot bigger! we actually shot the beginning and ending underwater scenes at a YMCA. I wanted a dreamlike effect and the feeling that the world opened up to the girls when they were underwater. 2. Katie's knees are dirty because she fell when she saw her best friend with that "lezzie." I hope you enjoyed it!

Curious did Katie also have a crush on her best friend? I get the sense there's some jealously there
@kimcummings3 жыл бұрын
While Katie doesn't identify as lesbian or bi, she's definitely confused about her standing with Maura in light of this new information. And she's definitely jealous.

I first saw this film when I was 15 and in the closet struggling with the fact that I'm a lesbian. I only saw the film twice and after I couldn't find it anywhere. Now after 11 years I finally found the film that made me feel so happy and that I wasn't so alone. Thank you!

Thanks for your comments, Karen! I wanted to bring this film back into the public eye because I feel like its message is important to get out there now more than ever. It's a very personal film for me and I'm happy that it resonates.

I was about that age at that time, facing the same struggle, wish i could have seen this movie back then. You got it so well, all those feelings just pop right back up, as a reminder that it's truelly (i think) about the same today: discovering that you're different, wishing and hoping that your friend will accepte you and look at you the way they use to do. Thank you for your beautyfull work.

Céline - thank you for these comments! I have shown this film to young people in recent years and heard similar sentiments from them. I have made it free for viewing indefinitely as I feel that in the times we're in, the message is so important now as much as ever.
