This could’ve been avoided if he gave her some space and wait until she comes home and stayed sober. Then maybe there would’ve been a better chance to save their marriage.

This scene triggers some trauma in me. She didn’t have to say she was more of a man than him. That’s what really set him off and made him acts crazy. She manipulated him and acts surprised when he did what she manipulated him to do.

Michelle made this movie less than 2 years after the father of her daughter died 💔 Knowing she probably related a lot to this movie on a personal level makes it hurt that much more

They’re both flawed but can’t help feeling sorry for dean. His lack of “ambition” killed their marriage but he never said he had any grand ambitions or plans for himself, he was always honest about himself and open. During the dinner he admitted he didn’t want or plan to be a husband or a father but when the time came he found out that’s all he wanted in life so that’s what he did and made an honest living so he could pay bills but also be an attentive father. And she gaslighted him the whole movie especially when she met her ex again, and you can’t say she’s right when you see she’s visibly flustered when talking to him again and even kind of excited, and as soon as she tells dean she try’s to back pedal and make up for even bringing it up and even deflects onto dean by saying well he’s s fat loser (like I said she was always kind of hinting more about dean being a loser with wasted potential even when talking about someone else)which offers nothing to the table. People always bring that scene up and say they feel sorry for her and she has to walk on eggshells but remember that’s the man that impregnated his wife treated her like shit and then jumped him and you expect him not to be upset

This was me and my x. And he actually bought me this movie...kinda foreshadowing...Sometimes love isn't enough. You can love eachother and be totally wrong for eachother. It wasn't easy relationship to get out of...it took years but it was the right decision and I don't regret it. You can't look back, only forward. I rather be alone than in a viscous ,toxic, on and off cycle...Rollercoaster ride. You just get to a point and you've had enough. 💙

Not everyone is meant to be in a relationship not for everyone. It sucks when people had messed up child hoods and they think if they get married it will make there life better most of the time it never does. She just is looking for the perfect man that will never come, he is just looking for a family that he never had both of them don’t belong together simply put. .

LMFAO "Got a glass jaw or something, can't take a punch?" This, after he himself got dropped like a sack of potatoes by one of her exes while working in that warehouse 😂 Ryan Gosling had this to say about the film, "Usually, you have to look for the truth when you're making a film but in this instance, you're just totally marinating in it" and that's because the film is based on the true life of the director's life, the director actually went through all of this 👏🤗

I love the symbolism at the end of this scene - notice how hard it is for him to remove the ring from his finger (a hint to how difficult breakups generally are) and then his instant regret once he loses it in the bushes. He realizes his mistake AND she helps him to try and find it... beautiful.
