I have an 18 month old blue and gold called mikey. Would love to teach him this. I take him outside with me but he won't fly he just wants to walk and follow me everywhere talking to me and he's wings aren't clipped.

It is a silver scat I have one as a pet in a tank. They have poisons in their spikes and eat scat too. That looks like an adult male.

I'm on the Sunshine Coast and have a B&G. Pluto is 2 - I'd love to let him fly outside but I'm terrified of losing him. Can you tell us more about how you accomplished this please?

I'd love to get a Macaw! How did you teach him not to fly away forever? Do Macaws always stay near their owners even if they are new owners, or is this self learnt over years of trust building? How long did you have this Macaw before you let him fly freely? :) Thanks!

smart idea! you get both the hold of a strap and the freedom of strapless. Also in gusty wind you can adjust your weight quickly instead of dancing out of the straps.....

@Dorothyinstead How do you teach your parrot to do that? It chooses you instead of the open wild. How did you manage to get that right? Weren't you afraid that the bird might fly away? 99.9% of people who don't clip their birds' wings loses them forever. No matter how closely they were bonded to each other and how happy and well cared for the bird was. Once they find out they can fly they take to the skies. What's your secret?
@CptnEldritch11 жыл бұрын
Okay, guys, you cannot just train a parrot freeflight in a few simple steps. Please do thorough research on the subject before attempting this. Asking on a KZbin video is useless. Also, as a proponent for such, if you are looking into buying a parrot, check your local rescues for birds, too. In other words though, great video! I had heard exotic species of birds are illegal in Australia. Is there a way around that? Or do I have incorrect information?

Does he ever fly out of sight of you? My friend used to free fly her B&G in Hawaii. Hers would also invade others space, landing on people etc. One day she was free flying her and something spooked her. That had happened before and her bird always flew home. This time she never showed up at home. We think she might have landed on someone and they grabbed her and kept her.
