I'm doing a history degree, and oh boy, this is my new favourite study listening. I just finished studying the myth of Venice and am about to delve into the Byzantines. I spent so much time laughing

3:20 Wales was part of the kingdom of England from the Laws in Wales Acts 1535 and 1542 until the passing of the Government of Wales Act 1998. The welsh were infact fully conquered.

Aiden arguing with stavy makes my brain melt, he's so damn confrontational over his opinions, less so by facts. But that's just my opinion. That being said, his Karl Marx caused 50 shades of grey take... fucking pure gold 😂!

Have you seen the interpretation of the Medusa myth where it's not a punishment. Basically, 21st century woman have chosen to see it as Athena making it that no man could ever hurter like that again. We still change the meaning of myths to our own narratives.

Italians, Greeks, French, Spanish, Portuguese watching this: 😳😳😳 Also how can you call someone fully Romanized if they at the least didn't get assimilated and adopted the empire's language. Also since Greece was an important contributor to both the forming and maintaining of Roman culture they get the pass

I as a Welshman, who hated the idea of Rome conquering Wales and not giving us anything other than medicine, aqueducts, wealth more imports and trade, better roads and modern day ruins to explore, strangely love the idea of this. In all seriousness, it is perhaps one of the worst shames that the Celts were wiped out by the Romans, what we might have learned, had they written anything or lived would be amazing. They might have known what the true function of the standing stones were, because we have so many and yes cool but what do? New discoveries all the time about it, their constructions and use of precise acoustics but why? Worship? Council? Sacrifice? Festivals? All the above? What do?!

What knowledge could you bring to ancient Rome? 1. Use 'Arabic numerals' as your own invention. 2. Horn bows / long bows 3. D&D 4. 17th-19th century ship building schematics 5. Heliocentrism 6. Anesthesia
