Everything was going along great, thinking to myself, I can do this as well... Until he broke out the ultrasonic cutter, priced at 400.00 plus here in the states.. Umm, little too rich for my budget, lol.. That's an awesome build and great work. Thank you for sharing.

Hello! I was thinking about building a 4 axis hot wire cutter from an old 3d printer, but your method seems easier. What material do you use for the cutting templates on the side? Thank you in advance!

hii, I m confused about which type of resin to be used for wing bagging process. Can I use infusion resin for this same purpose??? or any other resin is there.. pls sugggest..
@kousakunin2008Ай бұрын
For bagging, you need to use a laminating resin, not a casting resin, as casting resin can cause the wings to warp. Araldite LY 5052 resin is the best for DLG wings.

This is so informative! Thank you. What actually happens to the spray adhesive in between the layers? Does the epoxy dissolve it? Does the spray adhesive affect the lamination strength very much?
@kousakunin20085 ай бұрын
Spray adhesive dissolves in epoxy resin, so it does not affect strength.Spray glue prevents the laminated layers from fraying, making the work easier.

@@kousakunin2008 Thanks. I will try using it. I already have some 3M No.77 but perhaps I will buy the same (no.55) as you use. My project is a little different to yours. I am building a velomobile out of carbon fibre and I am hand-laminating the carbon and Innegra layers. I am laying-up mostly 200gsm twill carbon 2.7 metres long and 1 metre wide. I have a couple of F3K gliders, a Blaster 3.5 and a Vortex 3 and to me, they look beautifully made. Seeing your work makes me want to try scratch-built F3K too.

I recommend to copy the plans of high-performance commercially available aircraft below. *snipe f3j.in.ua/media/snipe-sn/original/snipe-sn-dlg-assembly-drawing-preview.jpg *flitz aeromodelis.lt/Flitz-3-products-c120608251 *Falcon www.hyperflight.co.uk/products.asp?code=FALCON&name=falcon-2-1-5m-dlg#mz-expanded-view-1254346996313

Yes polypropylene is reusable. It's better cleaning with acetone or alcohol.

Dont you thing that the blue and orange threads should not be straight to the pulley? That is the reason it stops the movement at the end of the cut and you have to help with your hands to complete the cut.

Glad to see plywood and aluminium tape can be an alternative. How much are the aluminium wearing before you have to change them?
@kousakunin20086 ай бұрын
No need to change. However, the cut surfaces of the plywood are hardened with a CA bond, smoothed with sandpaper, and then aluminum tape is pasted.

Very nice. But one question: why do you cut the lower side first? Is it not better to cut the upper side first?
@kousakunin20088 ай бұрын
Theoretically, if you cut from the top first, the thickness will become thinner as the core melts with the hot wire when cutting the bottom.
