It’s 2006. You wake up from a dream that you’ve made the cut somewhere for the summer. Before logging on to play Runescape for the entire day, you decide to visit the Vic Firth and Promark websites to see if new tour videos dropped. Nothing since early July. You head to KZbin and see a Phantom lot was just uploaded. “Holy shit. 480p.” The audio is absolute ass but you watch it over and over anyway trying to figure out what the fuck they’re doing. You hit up your friends on AIM and MSN messenger to let them know there’s a new vid. You chat over it as everyone gets ready for Saturday morning PvP wildy action. Good times.

Still the best DCI show. Bar none. Sure, later shows have topped it score-wise since then, but this one is just top notch.
@ZakhadWOWАй бұрын
Lord knows every BD show since then might have been technically proficient, but not ONE of them makes me feel a damn thing but bored. I mean Tempus Blue? Cut-outs? GIve us more Spartacus, Harmonic Journey, TIlt, PHantom of the Opera, etc.. Enough of the super artsy-fartsy conceptual stuff. Can you imagine what Jim Jones and his contemporaries would have to say about the program designs (not even beginning with the disrespect to the military heritage that created DCI in the first place)?? THey'd be both outraged and laughing their asses off. Hell, even the BLue Stars absinthe fantasy trip had more impact and memorability than the BD shows have. Which makes me sad.. I was a large BD fan back in the 70s and 80s. But now that they and their community have such an interwoven effect in all angles of DCI, I dont see much changing. The worst effect? Kids bailing on Corps that invested YEARS in them, educating and training them in every aspect.. only to have the kids bail to go to BD for ageout year to whore themselves out for a medal.

Do you think it would sound better if you used the audio from the tenor/snare cam and/or audio from a lot video or the perc show music by scv for the audio for the video? it’s hard to hear a lot of the notes they play. regardless, great work transcribing this
@imbored7678Ай бұрын
I could just be wrong, it sounds great in most parts but muffled in others
@7rtdrumsАй бұрын
I tried, trust me, there just wasn't a lot of things lining up. It was either the battery sounded out of time or there was no brass, and this show is KNOWN for the brass basically. Those two videos didn't line up very well that's why there was many cuts back and forth between snare and tenors, I had to adjust everything. The only thing that lined itself up was the opener. I tried adding the bass video I used to get the beats but it was just not it. But they had no lot video rehearsing metropolis 1927/ mvt 2 so it would be raw audio for that anyways. I'll keep this in mind for next video tho thanks!
@imbored7678Ай бұрын
@@7rtdrums it’s still a great video, I already learned the snare part but I might learn some of the tenor parts now. What battery do you plan to do next?

@imbored7678Ай бұрын
@@7rtdrums yea tilt or maybe e=mc2 but i dont know how much footage there is of a 2013 show. Blue coats 22 or 16 are two great shows. i know downsideup already has a tenor and snare trans so you would need to transcribe only the base part, im pretty sure their is a video of them at finals in the lot playing all of their show music.

@7rtdrums2 ай бұрын
some corps don’t rep some stuff like that, as i’m working on scv 2018 i haven’t seen one lot video where they rehearsal second movement. guessing it’s just a decision made by paul rennick or colin mcnutt. those movements are pretty simple and repetitive so i really wouldn’t see the point in rehearsing sections like that
