I totally love it Rob that is exactly what a kid back in the day would’ve done. He would’ve mixed all the genres, custom stock and stock car racer used all or most of the custom parts and done it all on the kitchen table before your mother would shoo you off the table so you could have dinner! And don’t forget to use those decals besides looking cool they cover up the glue mishaps also! Great build have a great weekend!

Looks good, Rob! I like the color, the stance makes it look like it’s under acceleration lifting the front wheels! It looks just fine. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Have a great weekend, Rob.

You probably installed the steering knuckles upside down in the suspension. Flip them over, and the front end will sit lower.
@papasmodelcarroom845014 сағат бұрын
It's an old AMT reissue so it has a molded in front suspension. I could have drilled new holes but it sat just right in mockup.
@rayrussell625814 сағат бұрын
@@papasmodelcarroom8450 OK, I have the kit, haven't opened it yet. But with your comments, I'll check closely before I build it. I now notice the kit has block inserts for front axle pin on both sides, not steering knuckles. Hpiguys channel I think suggested installing the front of chassis into the front of body first, in final assembly. That might be where the ride-height can slip if not installed right. I do like your color combo on this model, and will try doing something similar.

Looks great! A lot of my builds do the same thing on assembly, front end too high. Like you said, they look perfect during mockup. I'm assuming it has to do with something between the firewall, dash, and windshield. I might try shaving on all 3 slightly in the future.

Hi Ron, looks like a lot of fun. The guy from Speed Kulture was Andy Southard Jr originally from here on Long Island. He was a custom painter back in the day. Try to find his books Custom cars of the 5os,more awesome modeling ideas,Mike

Yep. My grandfather's 1960 F100 long bed had a steel bed floor. NOT wood. His 49 F1 also had a steel bed floor. Chevies came with a wood bed floor until at least 55. In fact, come to think of it, in 1976, before I bought my 61 F100, the brand new Chevy pickup I was looking at maybe buying had a wood bed floor. Memorable because it was brand new on a dealer lot, and there were bolts and other hardware painted in place on the bed floor and some had rolled away from where they had been when it was painted and exposed primer under their paint shadow. In some cases, bare wood under the shape of a bolt. Very sloppy craftsmanship building it.

I have used that brand of foil myself, and had problems with it wrinkling , like you said it is very thick, so I only use it if absolutely necessary!! What shade of blue did you use on the body? I like that blue it looks good!! Some good looking builds👍👍
@papasmodelcarroom84505 күн бұрын
It's TAMIYA Pearl Light Blue TS-58. I didn't use primer just sprayed over the light gray plastic and waxed with NOVUS #2. You'd probably get a cool color if you sprayed over a gold or silver. And thanks 😊 for the support.
