I liked It and the ending. Arthur fleck got precisely what he deserved given his own actions. Todd Phillips, the director knew that the audience would walk out just like Harley did and Arthur fleck got the same death as Murray Franklin having been killed by a former Fanboy.

How can ANYONE that likes Mignola and has read about the characters of Liz and Kate and say "there is no girlbossness here, after all, she is feminine". Now I wonder what would Liz, or Kate or Feniz, or hell, even Hecate herself, think about someone saying that sentence.
@CriticALReviews595

@@DrGonzoSpain Most modern films lean towards the defemininisation of female characters or have them never be scared, vulnerable or weak. It was a comment against other movies not a comparison to Mignolas works.
@DrGonzoSpain

@@CriticALReviews595 I guess you misunderstood me. My point is that the concept of defimminissation is a completely moronic term, specially coming from someone who claims to enjoy the works of a writer who has some characters who represent that "defimminisation" , i.e a girl who is the literal incarnation of fire itself and ends up being an almost allmighty entity and other who passes from bookworm operative to be the commander in chief of the entire BPRD. None of which are ever depicted as damsels in distress or even show "classical female" tropes. Jesus, Abe Sapien is far more whiny and scared than those two. So either you missed the point on purpose or you simply do not care about strong female representation in works you enjoy.
@CriticALReviews595
@CriticALReviews595 5 күн бұрын
@@DrGonzoSpain and yet both of those still possess feminine qualities and vulnerabilities. It matters not that Kate progresses through the ranks of the BPRD nor that Liz is a powerful agent with the powers of immolation. They are still both believable and rounded characters. The only real problem I had here was with Bobbie Jo being some half assed romantic insert. Entirely unbelievable and cliche. However, it was refreshing seeing a female character have weaknesses and obstacles and overcome those.
@DrGonzoSpain

@@CriticALReviews595I get what you are saying, and I understand that sometimes it can be annoying the trope of the main character that acts every single time as someone cool, devoid of fear... The part that is screeching my mind is categorizing that as "feminine". Because what makes those character good, i.e. vulnerabilities, inner conflicts, acceptance of limitations and fear, is, in no way, exclusive characteristics of female characters. Those are universal to any kind of good character. Hell, of any person. And it goes the same way for the ever tiring, ever boring trope of the ultimate badass that kicks everyone´s ass no matter what. It is boring as fuck, whether is Gina Carano in The Mandalorian of Chuck Norris in an 80´s film. The fact that it may be acceptable in a male character but not so much in a female character is what I fundamentally disagree on.

Ask yerself this my newbie friend; u ever had an original thort? Cos all I'm hearing here is rote parrots. I'm 54 yrs, 48 as a SW superfan, so let's afford this topic sum objectivity, okay? My xp incorporates *TWO fukn rooms in my darn home dedicated to SW merch an novels/comics collected over 45yrs* so I know my stuff. As well as knowing that Acolyte wasn't top tier SW, I also know that *THE INTERNET/youtube* as an entity is full of crud, sheer narcissism an two-faced Goggle-buck$ graspers. I cud sit with u and expound for HOURS upon how *contrivance is baked into EVERY movie script in existence* - an yes, that means Jaws, Bladerunner, The Godfather, Lawrence Of Freakin' Arabia, yada. Salient points then? Whilst there can be no disputing the talent on display in Acolyte (esp actors, vfx, tech an crew etc), sometimes a media endeavour is jus NOT greater than the sum of it's individual parts. This can be for myriad reasons - artistic intent, corp restrictions, hurried writing scheds...BAD choice of showrunner. Obvs I'm not even gonna try defend the many poor choices taken, but I find the bipolar hysteria on ea side frankly...pathetic. I musta read ooh, HUNDREDS of very average comics, novels and vid games from the Lucas EU era, but then I moved onto the next one - without prejudice - cos I still like the universe, right? All thes folk carping (usu on KZbin, fer clix) haven't even bin invested themselves for yrs (if ever) so there's really little relevance in their op eds. Case in point, the *D+ BOBF* TV show - fairly mid but not awful by any stretch - attracts ire and scorn aplenty for the sin of...er, giving a character who has FIVE LINES in each trilogy a slightly milder take than In SUM OLD BOOKS AND COMICS?? Wtf kinda horsecrap is that? Try judge something on its own merits maybe, huh? FYI I'm playing *Outlaws* right now - which has bin unfairly eviscerated imvho for its lead pc - but I'm sure it wuda bin LESS hated on had the character been OMEGA outa Bad Batch (a popular show so wuda made sense, yes?) instead of jus any rando smuggler gal. It's these kinda choices that are undermining the SW IP, cos if the products were great then armchair critics wudnt be so focused on the DEI. Or perhaps they still wud.

I watched the Acolyte. Unforunately, it was very bad and I was disappointed. Osha's mandatory droid companion looks like a cassette tape player from the 1980's. It couldn't even move. what was the point of it. Yes, Sol was my favourite character. At least he's trying, it's not his fault the show is so bad. You know it was party to an active campaign by conservatives (who never cared for SW anyway) to dismiss & vilify it from its outset. You will never convince me otherwise (15% RT is nothing but bombing with a majority never having watched it). Most of the comments & criticisms were focused on the ‘politics’ of the actors, the story or the production & promotion. If people would admit they hated the progressive values it represented then I can understand their anxieties about this show. But they generally don’t & make claims about bad acting, poor writing, terrible production - all of which are palpable not true. The other thing that cements the assertion that it’s ‘political’ is the joy & celebration of a show getting cancelled. Not, it could or should have been better, why didn’t they do this or that, rather an absolute triumph in its cancellation. It’s a shame imo, it certainly had flaws, primarily with pacing, but was one of the better SW shows to be produced. Certainly better than Boba Fett & even Obi-Wahn. Anyway essay comment over. Let’s hope the conservatives don’t fuck up everything that’s made, because it’ll certainly get dull & boring out there.

For the last time it cost $230 MILLION DOLLARS - the $180 million is AFTER the UK tax breaks, and is a figure used to downplay the high cost of the film. One of the largest wastes was the music. The 'Power of Many' song (which was made into a purchasable track), used singers, writers, musicians from various countries, races and cultures from around the world - Leslye Headland insisted on this to 'reflect the true diversity of the song'. So instead of outsourcing locally to England, Wales (fantastic Enya-like Welsh singers) or Ireland (Irish singers too are awesome) for say $50-60 thousand dollars, they probably spent near or over a million dollars to house, train, translate and support these international talents who turned up from around the globe just for one song.

It's called deconstruction. Turns out hardcore fans don't enjoy it very much, or rather, don't enjoy it when made in a lousy way. Clone wars did show the Jedi order as failing its mission, features a bunch of very compelling female characters ( Ashoka, Padme, the Sith apprentice of Dooku), and it was a fan favourite. Why? Because they respected the lore and did a good job writing it. I watched with my son, and found the beginning of it quite childish, but very quickly evolved into a more mature show. I remember when Ashoka was falsely accused and then abandoned the Jedi order. The emotional charge of those scenes was felt... For a cartoon!
