I did a full video group on taking this guitar with its stock parts and making it right.... Then I did a video group on MODDING the guitar to make it a Monster ! ! ! ! I still have the guitar . . . useda 37mm brass block on the upgraded tremolo.... but it needs to be cut down about 2 MM for the rear cover.... Please go watch all the videos done on this guitar . . . . All guitars here on the channel are sold after the videos are done... This one I never listed for sale as I still need to shave the brass block to 35MM. E-mail us if you would like chat about buying this guitar... But please watch the videos first... As it is no longer a stock FFMN.

I have not played an IYV guitar yet.... I did order one about 6 months ago but ended up lost in shipping.... Amazon did a refund to me but... 2 months later .... So far that model has not came back to Amazon to buy again. still looking for the budget guitar company that hits all the marks under 400.00. Firefly could do it..... They just need to change a few things.... Leo Jaymz.... seem to have production QC problems... across the board. Hit and miss at times.... Westcreek seems to be have some problems lately as well .... cutting frets short... and setup. Grote.... the new LP's NOT GOOD ... I have order two and the fret work was just bad. I didn't review due to finish and bad fret work. They were both returned... There GR Tele and Strat seem to be holding the brand right now. still good and cheap. Solar is the only one that seems to be doing a balanced budget guitar under the 400.00 ... HB does have some models... as well. I have heard good thing about there 300 to 350 price point guitars. what is just crazy is how much you get with these guitars now days..... They are all good... at the price point they are at.... I just look at the price / others... Right now, I would say Firefly has a better overall guitar build. I have ordered many guitars from all these companies .... only 1 firefly was ... not so good... out of 15 or 20 I have ordered. some were even just good stock.... no changes needed... HB is right in there as well .... just great build QC at a budget.

@@macgnf9061 I understand..... There are pit falls that we... Guitar Players fall into. There is also how the market works... An Upgraded Budget guitar just has no resale valve..... Both had bad fret work and problems... but with all the problems....both played fine and made you want to play it..... Dunno.. I have also reviewed guitars that were 100% great fit and finish ... WORK WAS 100% great fret work ... setup work 100%.. But the guitar was LIFELESS ! ! ! ! I want to do more reviews and compare products... I do... it comes down to having the money to buy the guitar... and then be able to resale it. Most companies are not going to send me a guitar to review... This is not a DEMO channel... and not the KZbin typical review channel. KZbin pays very little .... even my best video to date has not even come close to paying for the guitar.... The JOYO chorus you have ... 2 knobs Rate and Width ... gold/ brown color. They call it the Classic Chorus ?? With the Classic Chorus I have found use very little .. I set the Rate to about 10:00 /10:30 o'clock and the Width to about the same... I add a Delay behind the Chorus to fatten it up. It is not as rich sounding as my Digitech Studio or the ART AGX 2000 ... but the JOYO Classic Chorus is mono. The Digitech and the ART are stereo... My main rig is a Stereo Rig... Makes the sound so much bigger! As long as you keep the controls down and fatten the back side it does OK... I also have their Digital delay from the same line of pedals... again it is OK... I'm looking for I guess a really good Analog Delay .. Not sure witch one to try next... Doesn't need to be JOYO ... Just a good pedal for good delay.

Also have the JOYO Amercian ... witch also has a lot of different tones and gains... The Amercian can almost get to the high gain hot rodded 80's tone... almost... but you're at 90 to 100% on the gain to get there and the pedal becomes a little noisy at that point. it is good for the NON-Hot Rodded late 70's early 80's tone.

That sounds good for a single pedal. Really liking the multi effects unit, GT-1, I have. It takes a lot of noodling around to figure it out totally, but I'm getting there. It has an amp modeler that features a Peavey 5150ish that I really like. Several distortions to choose from amongst a plethora of other effects. At first I liked it, then I wasn't sure, but now I love it. I haven't tried changing anything via the cloud, although it's possible. I seem to get better 80s sounds out of it than bias fx, IMO. I have the 80's/ 90's rig in my rack units.... The sound from the ART Pre-amp is just spot on for 80's hair music.... But... a Budget / Low-cost system that can get you there is what we're trying to do.... This is the Pedal for a low cost 80's and 90's tone. Really adding more funds to buy a more expensive pedal is not needed. This pedal is 41 dollars right now... add a good delay and some reverb and you can get there for very little money. The Egnater Amp I'm using cost me 400.00 used 2 channels, Clean and Dirt with EL84 and 6L6 power tubes to blend the power amp tone. also has built in reverb. add this pedal for 41 dollars Total 441.00 bucks for that tone... I will do that all day long ! now it's time for me to start shopping a good delay for this sound.... it would be nice to stay under the 500-dollar mark for the amp and the pedals... that's my goal!

@DominionFretWorks Yeah, GT-1 is a pedal, kinda. It'll fit in the accessories pocket of gig bag. Battery or cord powered. Built in expression pedal. I picked it up from a guy who wasn't interested in figuring out how to use it for about the cost of 2 budget pedals or less - $80. Basically, brand new. I found an amp I'm going to look at this week that's for sale locally. I was thinking of just getting a speaker made specifically for MEUs when I came across it. Fender Blues Deluxe. See how it sounds, doing research on it to see if it's a winner or trash. May pick up some analog pedals down the road, but other than an amp, I'm set right now.
@jerrydover4140
@jerrydover4140 9 күн бұрын
@DominionFretWorks He's asking $250 for the amp, so if it's to my liking, $330 for rig, which I think is reasonable for someone starting out, but most will buy new, which will usually be much more. The GT-1 is going for $199 new. And a decent tube amp starts around $500ish, so hopefully, I can come in under half of that price. I saw the 15w from. MONOPRICE, but for the cost of mods that I see most people make and the amp price, that's basically up around the cost of a decent amp, so that really doesn't make sense to me. I saw a few videos of modding the circuit on the board, but I'm no engineer. May be easy to some, but may be my luck that I try it and fry the board. Then I'm back at square one with a round peg so-to-speak. I thought about the hand wired unit, but then I have to get a cab, and I'm trying to keep my cost as low as possible for now just to see what I can do with the least amount of cash for a decent rig that's portable.

I have a few Joyo pedals and like them very much, this one is no different, there are some great distortions in there that I would be very happy using, I tend to use my Rat with a boost by using my EQ pedal with a nearly flat setting, however, this pedal brings something else to the table and so Im going to order one! I have friends that have some quite expensive boutique pedals, they have some variation on the sounds of similar cheaper pedals, but IMO they are not worth their price. The Joyo definitely is worth its price!

No sure what SMACKING sound you are speaking of..... There is a lot of background noise ... Hummmm and Refig noise ... This video was done before I started using a noise gate... But even with the gate ... it misses with the audio if not set just right. Even some of my newer videos... I can seem to get the gate to work on all tracks. This video was done with a GoPro8 hero. and the audio recording from this camera is not so good. Video is on 1080P 30FPS still not the greatest. I'm now using GoPro10 Hero's which are a little better shotting at 2.7K 30FPS. Audio is still recorded on the GoPro with a SM57Pro during the demos and stock camera mic for talking. Looking at doing some changes.... But the cost of a Full SYNC video and audio recording setup is just crazy . . . . . 3 cameras and an 8 track field recorder with Sync. Plus, you need an editing software that can time sync. If you would please let me know what it is your hearing ( time stamp mark ) so I can see if it is something that has been fixed by the newer cameras or if it is something I need to address with speaking or setup. Ya.... telling the guy on a framing crew . . . . Go get the 2x4 stretcher out of the truck. This guitar is one of the BAD guitars from Firefly at its price point. Very hard to build a good guitar with these specs and a FR bridge at this price point... I would say you can't... I would say right now a stock guitar with good pickups and a good FR-Bridge starts at 350.00 dollars... That a starting price for anything worth buying. The cost of a good useable FR-bridge just adds too much to the build cost. Solar makes one at 350.00 that is good to go out of the box... Jackson makes one in the 375.00 good to go out of the box. both are ok guitars... these guitars are starting points. If ya want a good FR-Bridge guitar that is good and not a compromise in pickups... bridge.... fit and finish... your in the 500.00 dollars range at the min price point. You waould hve to find A DEAL or find on one SALE.... I picked up a Dean MD24 at GC for 450.00 NEW .... WHAT A DEAL ! ! ! ! ! I have seen X class Jacksons at GC for 550 on sale.... Check out my FFMN videos on the Firefly FFMN.. I did a lot of videos on what it would take to build one of these up to a pro level. Just parts came to 450.00 with the guitar... PLUS ALL YOUR TIME.... The Higher the OHM load the more you PUSH your power amp stage in your rig... This can give you that BIG loud sound without the volume.... As the amp works harder to push the drivers. 4 ohm cabs in the guitar world really can't do this.... Halfer Amps like the DH500 and there 9505 Trans could run down to 1.5 ohms.... Witch today would be fine if you're doing a CAB / AMP IR. ( modeling type preamp ) Axe-Fx something like that. This V30 driver is a little on the Dark Side for me... I think they would work well with Cream Backs mixed in one cab... Speakers are key to your amps sound...... Change your speakers..... before changing your Pre Amp / Power Amp. Green Backs / Cream Backs / G12-65 / Penta all great drives. There are a lot of people that like theV30... So I'm sure your can get them to work once you dial in your amp. great review brother! how is the routing around the neck pup in the body? i was hoping youd remove the scratchplate so we could see but it didnt happen lol... possibly include that in the future? ive come across a few monoprice guitars...os30 and the older T style that you have to remove the neck because of the lip with the 22nd fret blocking the removal process...plus the smaller routing as well... its a bigger problem on the os30 because you have your switch and pots in the scratcplate....should anything break under there oooo big bear to get to it.....

Yes ...the newer reviews go into more detail....As people asked for things they were added....Check out some of my latest reviews... passed 6 months or so... Very detailed. This guitar for its price point is hard to beat... Most of the time you can get them for 139.00 on sale on Amazon... Firefly also has a good telecaster for just a little more money...

I've seen some luthiers use feeler guages right at the nut at first fret to file nut slots. Are you familiar with this? Advantages/disadvantages? I want to say I saw Dan Erlewine do it. Also, do you know of any cabs that have a 1/4 input jack? The multi fx pedal I have has built-in amps, and I was just curious about this. Would a PA cab work in this set-up? Hope all is well.
@DominionFretWorks
@DominionFretWorks 17 күн бұрын
Yes, you can do that.... I did that for a long time.... the only problem with doing it is you need to do 1 string at a time as you install the strings. let's say you start with your High E string.... the B string is not installed yet. Now you can get the gauge under the High E without the other sting in the way... There is a radius to the neck so the strings beside the string your working on can get in the way... you're feeling the drag of the gauge between the string and the fret. hard to do with the other strings next to the one you're working with. It's a great way of going about it... very safe as long as you know how much to have as your set measurement. Some use a fret wire with the tang removed... Needs to be the same fret wire ( height wise ) they slide this right up to the nut and file to the fret wire.... this is the even safer way.. Now you're cutting the nut to the fret height of your frets making your nut work and act like a zero fret. I like the fret wire way if I am doing that type of setup... If I have a fret wire to the same spec as the guitars fret wire. I have done so many nuts in the passed.... That know how far I can push the cut. ( I have still cut too deep at times) if your setting your action above .085 on the E string at the 12th.... odds are you are going to be shape on the 1st fret if you try to keep the other frets close ( just as many shape notes as flat notes ) this is due to the string distance from the fret... it becomes greater as you go down the fret board. this will make the fretted note go sharp. You're bending the string down to the fret. You can move the saddle back and offset this....this will lower the tune of the fretted notes across the fret board. NOTE if you cut your nut for a higher action then try to lower your string you can get fret buzz on the 1st fret. this is due to the rake angle of the string to the frets. Large changes in the action height can make this happen. Lets say your at .085 Low E 12th and you cut the nut to be close on the 1st and a average across the fret board.... If you lower your action down to .06 or lower most likely you're changing the nut. This is way you see so many guitar companies do a basic setup at .07 /12th low E. it is a good spot as you can go as low as .055 and as high as .085 and still get a good setup. the nut is going to work with very little tuning. Everything works together... If you have more neck relief in your guitar this can sharpen the notes around the 7th,8th and 9th fret. remember your truss rod really is not deflecting the neck pass the 18th /19th fret ... it is bolted to the body of the guitar under those frets. Adding relief can fix flat notes around the 8th fret... It is not much... I know but it does change the notation if you add relief. 1) know your action height you want... 2) Know the relief you want 3) know your string gauge then start with the action height set at the 12th.... adjust the saddles to get your radius the way you like it... Some like a flat-er string radius vs the neck radius. once all this is done. start working your nut... each cutting pass check the fretted notes down the fret board. shot for just as many flat as sharp. Floating bridges FR type... 4) know that your bridge is Falcrum based, and this point is Infront of the string saddle...most of the time pushing the bar down ( lowing the string pitch ) will increase the string action height...... most of the time.. PULLING UP ! ! ! ! most of the time will lower the string action height... If you set your action to low ... up pulls will fret out... or choke the notes. When I look at Floyed Rose bridge the first thing I look at is the back set of the saddles... if I see the saddles in the 3nd hole... I know the tuning swing on that saddle will be limited... as the back of the saddle will most like hit the angled base plate. Next I know the saddle is move back away from its Falcrum point of the base plate. The greater that distance from the Falcrum to the saddle the more height change in the string as you use the tremolo. Kahler had a great system that was best for not doing this. As the saddles were mounted to a cam that moved. Sorry for chatting and chatting.... I love chatting! I love talking guitars! WE SHOULD DO A LIVE STREAM ONCE A WEEK JUST TO CHAT !

yep.... doesn't matter. it is easier without the strings..... also easier to clean the body and pickups without the strings.... I was under a crunch to get the guitar done... that night. but I also wanted to make sure it was as good as I could get it with the stock parts. I think this is a good setup for a new player. I wish the G string could have been a little better... but the average notation down the fret board was even... sharp to flat and the first fretted note was OK... I really need to make a list of things to do in a order..... and hang it on the wall. Cheat Sheet List

LOL I did the same thing in the Epiphone Alex Lifeson review... Robetson Tuner..... Funny someone just commented that I did that in that video about 4 or 5 hours ago..... I will try to overcome my Robertson name calling and call it a Peterson Tuner . . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ya every guitar has its own personality.... Let the guitar be what it wants to be.... it is the same with setups... There are many ways to get to your like setup... This was a basic setup as the guitar was very good to start with. when ya get into adjusting the truss rod ..... and fixing high frets ... that becomes a little more work. truss rod adjustments can make or break how your guitar plays..... Neck relief is one of those ... I like relief ... I like no relief... I setup the guitar with a little....5mm is a good starting spot...

I notice sometimes you refer to your Peterson tuner as a Robertson. is Robertson a brand you use at work? This is a really nice guitar however I feel like I have to point out that a Texas Toast Challenger Level 1 cost $1299 and for $100 more you can get it with custom handwound pickups made by Dylan Talks Tone however it doesn't come with a Floyd so that may be a deciding factor. I know this isn't a custom one off from a Luthier (probably $3000) but it's nice to know there are small American guitar companies trying to pass on a savings to the customer. Thank you for the review 🍺

Ya.... I do .... LOL Dunno why, I call it a Robertson. I have some of Dylans pickups here... very nice pickups. The pickups in the stock Epiphone are fine. The way it is wired allows for so many different tones. Would the Dylan Pickups be better ???? Dunno. I have reviewed a lot of guitars.... The sound you hear is not just the pickups.... The Amp has more to do with your tone.. IMO Not saying cheap pickups will sound like Dylans thought a great amp... not at all. But you will get more from your amp and how it is dialed in. For me... the tones from this guitar are fine.... It hits all the marks for the tones needed to play a wide range of music. Sometimes ... we over think things.... LOL and chase a tone...Let the guitar speak to you. They will tell ya what they like. the feedback you get from the neck and the tone you hear will push you play new things if you bond with the guitar.
