Hi, I have found white cotton like spots on the fins of my fish; along with some on the bodies. I caught a fish and tried to scrape it off to view under my microscope, but the white spots were hard. I was able to get enough off the fin to put under the scope but nothing was moving/alive in the sample. I also noticed the fish have popeye. I purchased these expensive fish three years ago and have had no problems until I purchased a sturgeon. The sturgeon looks fine. I took my pond down to 2940 gallons and have only and aerator in the water. The fish aren't eating right now as I'm in Northern Indiana. Please advise on how to proceed. I took several of the fish out and put them in a salt bath in a 100-gallon tank but it had no impact on the eyes or fungus. I ended up taking the sturgeon out of the pond and put him in the 100-gallon tank. Also, after your recommended treatments, can i just fill the pond back up with water and put the sturgeon back in it? I've had my pond for 20 + years and have never had a problem. I appreciate any advice you can offer to cure my fish. I've attached a few pictures for you to review. I have 30 Koi.

I have a customers small pond in oak glen right up the hill from you. I have changed the liner twice on it as the bears love to take a bath in it. I am recommending we change to a plaster or cement pond. Being as the walls are slick the bears claw into the liner to get out. Thats not pretty at all.

The Devil is in the details. You are a master of those. I have not heard you say ( I can't see that from my house ) once. As a building contractor working mostly on various age homes, I have a bible of specific unique details I reference. I dont need the practice anymore. When things go bad I find out why and never take that path again. Very nice series of videos. Nothing else like it anywhere.

The feeder comet goldfish in my pond breed like crazy, seems like all spring and summer. I was worried the adults and frogs would eat all the babies but that was not the case this being the first year of the pond. Now there are about 60 goldfish from the original dozen which I believe could overload the8'x12'x2' average depth pond as the fish get bigger, so maybe a visit from some heron wouldn't be bad.

can you just set the whole skimmer inside of the liner? Mine always seems to leak over time no matter what I do. Weather conditions in Iowa are extreme so I wonder if that is constituting to the leaking

Hey I have an issue… client started to build a koi dedicated pond like this one and he’s hiring me to install the bottom drain, skimmer, overflow pipe and return pipe to the liner. Issue is that he wants lights too but I don’t see any lights dedicated to liners out there.

Those west coast herons must be soft. Back east they are known to loiter for days or even weeks in the bitter cold around the one remaining patch of open water on a frozen pond or lake. Before eventually and grudgingly flying south.

If I could change one thing about my pond, it would be to have a bog filter. We bought a house with a Koi pond and a waterfall. It’s wonderful, but there’s not a good space above the waterfall to easily put in a bog filter and I think it would be so cool to have natural filtration with bog plants.

Don’t like how invasive it is. Have a 13 house pond on huge conservation area in Florida and it’s getting like mad. Thought out was germs but not they grew taller, from 5’ to 6’ in a couple days and have bark. Have take my boat and look more closely. There’s no way to control bc it’s not in my land. May call county extension office to help.

Hey Eric , just purchased the aquascape kit . The 1st thing was liner had 3 holes in it right out of the box . They did replace it quickly. What I don’t like is the way you to silicone the skimmer then apply the liner to that then cut the hole and then try getting everything aligned and poking your holes for the screws to go thru. I think wouldn’t be easier to use a butterfly gasket to seal the square hole on the skimmer just like a pool . I’m having a problem with mine water level drops to the same level every time redone the skimmer ( nightmare) still the same . I’m going to look at my waterfall as well , but the level drops about an inch an hr with the pump off . I’m thinking it’s somewhere around the perimeter of the pond . Thanks for the video.

That's a night mare to repair if thise pipes bust or leak😊 I have to drain and tear up the whole pond to remove the liner just access the pipes underneath the drain to the pump
