Despite second season being considered weaker then first season, which realistically it was, this was, in my opinion, the best episode of the entire series. John Cleese also mentioned this episode, along with Basil the Rat, as his favorite episodes from the show. 99% of success of this episode was thanks to guest star Joan Sanderson, who totally stole the show as Mrs Richards. Also, this was one of best appearances of Manuel in this series, as his communication problems with Mrs Richards at the beginning were played to perfection by Andrew Sachs.

The first one was Cleese doing an intro to Not the Nine O Clock News (the tatty revue) which was due to replace Fawlty Towers in the viewing schedule after the second series finished in 1979 but it never got to screen at its original time cos the week NTNOCN was due to start an election was called and so it was pulled from the schedule for being too political and thus Cleeses bit became redundant though it was still played before they eventually did start.
