Connie was and is a criminally underrated talent in comedy. Not ONLY her brilliant performance as Polly, but never forget she was the cowriter with John. That places her in the absolute top tier of sitcom writers. Literally no one better at it.

@johnmanning55682 ай бұрын
@@terrygoldsmith335her wittiest line is when Basil backed the horse “Dragonfly”. Basil was miming the name of the horse to Polly and he mimed the “fly” part of the word by pointing to his “flies” on his trousers. Polly immediately says “small?”.😂😂 I often wondered who thought of that line…John or Connie!

Not only is Connie beautiful but her comedic timing was brilliant, it’s a shame that Fawlty Towers didn’t have the kind of run that Only Fools had, I suppose there’s only so much that a hotel comedy can offer but in my opinion this was John Cleese’s best work ever.

That was what they thought; new ideas were beginning to get thin; they had said it all...
@dickJohnsonpeter Жыл бұрын
@@bloodgrss Yea I do recall him saying something along those lines plus he was getting divorced from her which certainly made things difficult but still, running out of material is a poor excuse considering they could have kept doing what they were doing and it amounts to him saying he wasn't creative enough to keep it up. I expect it was much more complicated than just blaming the situation the show was based on. I don't buy that excuse, it didn't stop anyone else,there were a ton of shows that ran for a long time and if anyone could keep coming up with stuff it would be John Cleese. Nah it probably had more to do with his and Connie's divorce and 8t just being bad timing.

Yes Bernhard. I agree. What seems to be neglected in his abominable behaviour in the Germans episode was that he's previously been battered on the head by a Moose's head. He was taken to hospital, where in his concussed state he decided to escape. No way his rants could be reasoned and credible. I hope German people will laugh at him, and ignore his rantings. Great comedy.
