Should I wear them to school?
@whentaniatalks26 күн бұрын
There's no right or wrong, it depends. It sounds like it would be a good idea to have a chat with your school about if it would be a helpful tool for communicating your needs. My daughter wears hers if she needs to use her earplugs - a simple, visual way to let all the staff know that she might not hear them. But if they were a thing when I was at school, I probably wouldn't have worn one because everyone knew I was the 'sick kid'. I hope that helps.

First off, how are you able to make your videoes so informative and effective in less than 3 min, and still be calm and collected? I can never do short videoes, so you impress me so much doing that😅 Anyways, I would skip the Nars one for now. Maybe start focusing on the loreal and ysl both (mix them together, use the as blush or mix with other lip products in your collection), and then maybe there's a chance you are able to use them up by the summer? So that then you can work on the no7 one? It depends on how much you have left in those two, but I'm sure you will do great progress❤❤❤ If not, thats okay too🥰
@whentaniatalksАй бұрын
It means such a lot that you find my videos informative, thank you Ashild! I've been working on my short form vertical video content, which has really helped me be more succsinct... and a lot of tripping over my words is edited out! 😂 I think you're right about skipping the NARS gloss for now. It's so hard to know how much is left in the L'Oreal lip gloss with it's opaque packaging. Thank you so much for the reassurance that it's ok to not make as much progress as I'd hope - I'm often very hard on myself and it helps to be reminded that panning is a journey to be enjoyed, not a destination that must be reached at all costs. ❤️

Slippery is definitely a great description! I vote for the YSL because it is old, and also easy to use. What about if you mixed some of the shades that he doesn't like with other shades to see if they work better for you?
@whentaniatalksАй бұрын
I hadn't thought of mixing shades, thank you! I'll give this a try - the slippery lip products could work well as a topper for a matte lipstick or a lip liner. ❤️

I suggest the third one to pan, the story behind it is so nice and it's very beautiful too. Maybe as a bonus project you could try to finish the 4th lipstick, it's also very pretty and if your husband doesn't like them then he'll be happy if they're all used up lol. Working on the 4th lipstick during the summer sounds like a good idea. But don't be hard on yourself if you don't use up multiple lip products by the end of the year! It's a great thing you're on this journey at all :-)

This is so helpful, thank you! I'm often too hard on myself, but you're so right - being on this journey of using things up and being conscious about purchases is how we're going to see change. I appreciate you. ❤️

I have SoJIA and also hypermobility. I just came back (literally 10 minutes ago) from the Rheumatologist who is referring me to Occupational Therapy for this exact problem and I was advised in the meantime to look at ways to make things easier. I have been advised to wear kinasthetic tape in the meantime and rest my hands and wrists and I will be getting finger and wrist braces to help with this issue. My arthritis and hypermobility at aged 27 (I have had this since the age of 4) is so bad with the UK weather that I need to get this sorted out. I DO work at a Doctor's surgery and due to comments like these, I see all the time that people aren't getting the help they need out of embarrassment. Please, do better. I get you may not have it, good for you, I hope you don't in the future. This is a real issue for people all around the world, it affects around 10% of adults and 40% of children. Before you try to come at me about the figures it's because you can actually grow out of it. Again, good for you that you don't have it, but stop making people feel sh*tty for their disabilities. Edit: spelling

I played the violin for years and always had troubles with my 4th finger. Only one of the teachers I had acknowledged that I really simply couldn't keep it rounded, she had the same issue. My very last teacher tried to gaslight me, didn't believe that it's a real thing and insisted that I just didn't try to do it correctly. That was after 10 years of playing and having lessons! He was so annoying and tried to "fix" it for months. After half a year I was so annoyed that I stopped taking lessons. Sometimes I wonder if I had continued if I didn't end up with him (where I lived you couldn't just switch teachers. There are years long waiting lists) Obviously this isn't a "big deal" in the big picture of life. But it is yet another example of how forcing people to fit "the norm" can make life miserabel for them. I had played for years without issue. I had adapted and could do what I had to do (only gliding on the 4th finger was really hard, everything else worked fine). But he still insited that I had to change to fit what was considered "correct" by him 🙄

I'm so sorry that your last teacher treated you this way. Teachers should be empowering and finding what works best for their students, not trying to force us to go against our bodies. You deserved better. A good teacher makes such a difference - my last oboe teacher also had a hypermobility syndrome and I don't think I'd have been able to continue playing as long as I did if it wasn't for her insights and support.

I partly put on make up sometimes because I want to look capable and put together so no one can see my mental illnesses or disability but since I already don’t look disabled I end up getting treated like crap either way. Just cause one is disabled doesn’t mean they’re not capable and it doesn’t mean we don’t like to look nice for ourselves. For some of us maybe doing our make up is hard when disabled but for others that’s not one of our disability struggles but it doesn’t make us any less disabled.
