Mike plant is my mentor as I'm a outlaw cowboy from Texas and I'm about to venture to south America's on my Great Dane 28' sailboat ⛵️ and I'm not a person that fits into this society I have no wife family or nothing I'm a 100% loaner and ive watched coyote 5 times already I wish Mike plant was still here because I would love to give him a handshake and a hug such a tragedy to what happened and when he set off epearb the USCG should have hauled ass and the emergency life raft was partly deployed so he was fighting to make it and that boat was moving and a violent storm he encountered and the pressure on that bulb !! Mike Plant should be remembered as the greatest sailor to come out of America 🇺🇸

Something about a slight downgrade in video quality seems to have an enormous upgrade in fluff free, well articulated content. I see it all the time. Not sure how it could be any better a video.

Happily watching and enjoying these valuable videos, much appreciated information and most of all very understandable explanation of the motions and commands. I’ll be coming back for more. Can I ask you what kind of ship we are sailing here, as a rookie I am trying to get a sense of size. Thank you very much

the venturi effect is an oversimplification that is not true in practice. On a sail you have a low and high pressure side, the low pressure side being on the curved side of the foil. The slot effect influences the stalling of the main sail as the wind follows better the boundary layer. Its all a lot more complicated than the simple venturi explanation.

Unless it's truly a DIRE emergency, wear hearing (and probably eye) protection when firing aerial flares! Those things are loud enough to cause hearing damage! ;-)

Hello, thank you for the video. Maybe you can help me here: I have a sailing boat with 3 B&G W12 screens installed. One of them doesn't get the detailed map (Navionics) as the 2 others get it well. The navionics is installed in one of the master screen slot. Do you have an idea why I can't receive the detailed map on the slave screen. I have checked that all 3 deplays are visible on the network. thank you for your help

Having purchased B&G Zeus 3s with Halo, depth and wireless wind, I never got it to run in a sense I could trust the data. Sailing itself is a pretty simple thing if I learn the basics of it, which I did. Navigation, I thought would be simple as well using GPS and so on. Now having all the B&G equipment which is not running, I feel like an architect, has to draw a house, first time in AutoCad and 3D. It’s over complicated and I don’t know where people get all the information from to install and setup B&G equipment? If it needs about 20 years to learn, I don’t know if a have that time.

My compliments to Elizabeth. I had my son come along for the ride and we did the 101, 103, 104 and 114 all in one beautiful sail for weeks in the San Juan Islands. I was 60 at the time. Hoping my son would consider a joint world tour on a Catamaran. He Loved the experience and came to the conclusion that "No way he wanted to be in a boat with land in sight." Now I'm over 70 and it's just a bit harder to scrub a deck and climb a mast. Maybe the ICW or a Great loop will still be in my sights. Carry on Elizabeth. Insert applause. 👏

For novice sailors, "Hard alee!" is very important as the execution command for tacking. "Hard alee!" needs to be imprinted on your brain so you know, when tacking, you're pushing the tiller hard to the "lee" (leeward) side of the boat. And you're holding the helm there until the main sail fills on the new tack. Also make note: it's "HARD" alee indicating a hard turn. It's not "soft alee". So on your tacks, turn the boat hard, when the main fills on the new tack stop the boat from turning (counter steering if necessary to stop the boat from turning).

Hi admin, i'm a newbie of marine major, i have a curious but can not find the answer anywhere, Is the flare gun & hand flare are equivalent function? If that so can we provide on boat only 1 in 2 and pass the qualification of registration department? Because in some region it is very difficult to apply license to carry the gun. if not, in which case we need to provide gun and which case we can use handflare instead of? based on which regulation in SOLAS? Thank you and hope to receive your answer soon.

I must be watching a different video? Once at the boat; the British guy is doing a terrible job of explaining/demonstrating. Doesn’t say what he is touching, when, and is moving way too fast. Should have someone filming what he is doing as well as info on the screen.

How do you set up a mast rotation sensor in a Zeus 3? I have a B&G RF25 rudder angle sensor that is listed as usable as a mast rotation sensor on the B&G website. The B&G Zeus 3 installation manual says apparent wind can be compensated for using mast rotation and indicates on page 24 a sensor can be configured as a mast rotation sensor but when I try to configure the RF25 it won’t let me designate it as the mast rotation sensor.

Excellent presentation, just reduced the amount of gear I thought I needed! Since all the b&g site manual links are to simrad docs is it safe to say their equivalent kit will behave the same? Also you mixed the hydra with the triton and Zeus, does that mean you can use hydra sail CPU with triton auto pilot and the cheaper wind meter and get decent sail steer or do you need to have both hydra “boxes” Also if you have a full hydra 2000 system can you upgrade the n2000 back bone and only change the display and CPU?

Even as a non sailor I can see that you have introduced a twist into the rope...it's ok on your short length of rope but on a longer length of rope this would create all manner of problems when it was being uncoiled, especially if it was being run through tackle.
