I read a lot of comments against TM. Krishna. Those commenters can choose not to support him in any and every way. I saw/heard a few of his online renderings. They are good. They are not enthralling to my ears/senses. Do as you like it.

My comments are based on my experience of hearing/listening his musical performances. He is good in his rendering/delivering the music. His voice is harsh to my ears. Sometimes his voice modulations are abrupt. Now to whatever his social behavior. I think the artists did the right thing to follow their heart/mind in boycotting the award event. An interesting question is what are the criteria off selecting someone for the award. If rasikas are upset about his off the consert behavior, they have can choose not to support T.M. Krishna in any way.

These comments open their minds and let some body or association, group like the renowned academy gives title after so many deliberations and discussions, debates etc. among the academy awards committee would have come up with this decision. As once again of anyone listens to TMK archive videos from incipient initial stages, one will be aghast and very much surprised at the consistency and religious fervor and dedication with which TMK has been singing all these years and I sincerely wish and pray that God gives him long healthy life to grow stronger in stature and to receive more international accolades and awards. I am prepared to defend my commitments anywhere on any public forum. Hope these comments are posted on the academy website and elsewhere that our inner gnana eyes are opened that we learn to look at life in a broad perspective wise manner. Jai hind. Music is exploration and experience. Balamuralikrishna and others have with their rich knowledge infused new ragas and kritis after undergoing metamorphic changes in their singing. Music trimurthis no where brought subject of Bhakthi in this lyrics. All was that their emotions on the Lord that transformed into devotion Bhakthi. New age singer TMK is right to cross boundaries to popularize Carnatic Music leaps and bounds. mma us right in recognizing his contribution and honour with Sangeetha Kalanidhi on him. Let's all join hands in making this a big happening as we are all sailing and smiling in life path of devotion. Neither Tyagaraja Dikshitiar Ramadas Purandara das had any notions of this kind Bhakthi in their glorification of God and their lyrics bought awareness in humankind. It's v sad that chaste music is being disrespected by starting a controversy. If you really respect the Trinity u wld not get caught up with petty thoughts about another Musician. None is chaste with no flaws.

Each religion has their own method of music. Muslims have Arab type, Christians have caroll type, Buddhists have tibetan type of prayer songs, Hindus have hindustani or carnatic. Why spoil each with another? Imagine the Hindu prayer songs with any other type... Horrible, isn't it? Can you pray to Lord Ganesha early morning in Muslim Pongu style...? Will any Muslim relish it? Even Dr.Balamuralikishna paid tributes to them. It's your luck that those musically genius artists chose to remain in light music only. Their understanding in different types of music helped in expanding the horizon. Nothing went wrong in the purity of carnatic system. Probably Krishna means this when he suggested to take carnatic music to various levels. But his approach may not be appropriate. Even now I don't know how many can take it in the right spirit. But I am worried that in spite of a handfull of good carnatic musicians, the vacancy left by Chembai, Madurai Mani, Madurai Somu,MDR, MS, Rajaratnam pillai,MSG, S.Balachander, the list goes on without replacement. There is quality in NRI supporters, but quantity of musicians is in sufficient. There is much scope for expansion, if you do not indulge in groupism or in fighting between good artists. Non commercial teachers are still rare for the art..Govt is there to help but quality comes only out of devotion to the art.

As the any kind or any form of art had its origin in the society itself, but not from the skies... They are the gift to the entire society and all communities whether main streamed a or marginalised... Unfortunately, majority art forms and the academies were grabbed and kept in the grip of brahminicql sections. By his own convictions vid tmks vocal outputs are technical combination of sounds and not music which latter is driven by rasasvemotions anubhavas and resultsntvbhaavas . So it is improper to call him Sangita kalanidhi or music kalanidhi. I recently happened to hear a bhajan of Sant Tulsi Das (which had been sung and popularised decades ago by the legendary Shri D V Paluskar) sung by this man who appears to have no respect for our religious scriptures or our traditions. The rendition was PATHETIC to say the least , and his DICTION AND PRONUNCIATION were simply terrible!! Incidentally does this man know that D V Paluskar ji himself was an orthodox brahmin???

No one has ever doubted or commented on his talent in carnatic music. The award is considered purely based on one's talent and one's contribution and development of carnatic music. Even though the carnatic music is dominated by a particular community it is great to see a man from the same community to take the music to the lesser known and underprivileged communities. Let us appreciate his revolutionised ideas and appreciate the people who from the same community had recognized his talent and his societal concern and selected for the award. Regarding his bakthi or devotion to God and music, his unbiased intention was revealed in his writings and debates that he sees God in all and in all people. Surely he stands among Bharthi, and K. Balachandar who have brought social revolution both within and outside their communities in their respective fields. Surely TM Krishna deserves this award.

Krishna is undoubtedly a hypocrite! Despite his support to lower section of society in the matter of learning or teaching music, he has not been able to attract pupils from that society! This tells volumes about his philosophy!
