question, how would I make this synced for everyone in an instance?

Cant wait to watch this! Im curious, would you say it's easier to build a world in blender than in unity? I've been trying to decide which way to go as I see both methods alot
@spookyghostboo22 сағат бұрын
if youre modeling, unity will be more simple. but you wont get the amount of control that blender offers. If you ask me, its a no brainer. Use blender. Learn the program. infinity better.

So if I wanted to make a light switch would I have to make a duplicate of that room and bake it with no lights and bake the other room with lights? And just write a script that sets one or the other active? Idk if that makes sense 😅
@spookyghostboo5 күн бұрын
yes. kind of. its more complicated. if youre a programmer, it might be easier for you cause you'll understand more than me. every forum post ive seen on it, mentions scripting a toggle between multiple lightmaps. The way I do it, is I bake a light scene seperately in blender. take those texture bakes and use a special shader to simulate unity lighting. then I toggle between the objects that have unity baked lighting and the objects that have the blender texture bake. most people just use post processing tho to dim the entire scene

Fantastic tutorial, but I think the only feedback I may give may be to slow down a little bit before moving from point to point when talking to give people either time to absorb it, or for kinesthetic learners the chance to follow on in a natural way that also gives the time to absorb it as they're doing rather than simply copying. It was a great tutorial, but you sound like you were super in a rush, which left me having to pause you a lot, which did disrupt the flow of things a bit.

I think i need more simple things to model. after an hour of modeling, im like, oh god, this is going to be a 5 hour video. but thanks. noted.

This is still a great tutorial. I followed along, did go my own way for a few things but I'm impressed with what I could come up with by the time I got it imported to Unity. Now, generating the UV Lightmap was very hard on my computer for some reason, could be because I imported everything I did in Blender including all the furniture. At the time of this comment, I am sitting here waiting for it to generate so hopefully from here on out, things go great
@spookyghostboo9 күн бұрын
light baking and rendering of any kind is the most intense part of the process for your computer. so depending on gpu/cpu your computer could really struggle with it. The higher the settings you use, the higher lightmap resolution you set on meshes, and the more stuff/lights you got, the longer it will take. Its a matter of finding a good balance for your machine to work within your restrictions. texture baking in blender for me takes a while.
@_Nickiii_9 күн бұрын
@ it took about 20 minutes to finish. I ended up getting it to work but I’m missing some objects and the textures won’t load into unity. I also can’t find a way to download the textures I have in blender so I may have to go retexture everything.
@spookyghostboo9 күн бұрын
@@_Nickiii_ I might have to see so pics to help. Just know you have to manually import textures into unity, it doesn't transfer over with the fbx. So once you figure out how to get the texture files, you can import them seperately into unity, create the material and then apply it to the objects
@_Nickiii_9 күн бұрын
@ I see! I can share some picture over discord if you want. I’m fairly sure I have something messed up in the textures though. I get an error when trying to add the textures in unity. Something along the lines of a sub texture and can’t be added. I’m not too sure. The models I’m using are already textured so it could just be something I’ve gotta dig more into

@@spookyghostboo Yup, surprisingly a lot of people use your assets. I myself have never tried making VRChat worlds, but I love watching content like yours that instead of making a 15 min tutorial on how to do specific things, you show the WHOLE workflow and that is something I wish more creators did honestly!! The only thing I dislike about Rec Room is baking lights isn't an option yet, and they only let us use THEIR shaders, but I'd rather have something rather than nothing lol.

Nice video, I have a problem with the seam in modular models, for example walls, floor, roof and some forniture, looks like a shadow white when objects are together, in the case of roof if I scale the object of 1 to 5 the scene takes a long time to bake because there are many roofs and the texture is quite heavy
@spookyghostboo3 ай бұрын
to decrease bake times with the large objects, you could try decrease the size on the lightmap by changing the setting in the mesh renderer. As for the modular objects, I'm not really sure whats the best way to go about it. It might be worth trying to use a different lightmapper. bakery might be better for something like that.
