Does she still play with you like this? I got 2 ferrets and they were pretty content to completely ignore all human interaction, which made me rather sad panda. I'm curious if I should have adopted a baby or two rather than rescuing..

Hmm, not bad. I'm thinking of getting ferrets, but I need to start saving first. Since cats are bloody expensive, I figured a ferret might be better. They act like permanent kittens. :)

their lifespan is 8 years, my bad. just googled it. n yea, ferrets are pretty dope animals. my boy, Sid is a lovebug but not many ferrets are.

There the most awesome creatures if you can put the time in to train them! Mine was free roaming like a cat potty trained and all! Such awesome companions I miss mine every day! Rip Sammy miss you buddy!

If you are willing to put in the time to train them.. They are the best most affectionate pets ever! I trained mine and he was free roaming! He was potty trained and slept with me he would even go outside and come back when he wanted! If you form a bond with them they are the absolute best companions on the planet! I miss mine every day. Rip Sammy I love you buddy!

@Krankenheim13 it was most likely a disease or illness. Ferrets tend to die very quickly in life because of them.

people that are talking about dogs and ferrets.... it all depends on the prey drive of the dog. I have Akitas, and I am getting a ferret soon. I searched for "ferret and Akita" and found several videos of them both playing together, and Akitas have one of the highest prey drives in any dog breed. i

Accidents happen, but it's also possible for young ferrets to suffer from genetic insulinoma. I bought a pair of young ferret kits at the same time, and while one went on to live for a good 6-7 years, his sister died in under a year from insulinoma associated with a particular breeder on the East Coast of the US. While it may be shocking to see a ferret die so young, it doesn't automatically mean mistreatment by its owners.

If the intentional virus was helio-bacter then it was treatable. It's tough to catch but their stool will be black and tarry. We had one who had it and with the PROPER amount of medication and diet, they'll be ok in a few weeks. Most vets don't know how much to give ferrets and kill them by poisoning them with medication so be careful. Happened to us..

Ferrets, at least standard breeds, are sort of prone to disease. Their immune systems aren't that great. I was given one by my aunt, he was a year old. My brother took care of him, is cage was always neat and he had a fairly balanced, controlled diet. One day, he wasn't acting like his usual self, so, mom took him to the vet. He had some kind of intestinal virus, the doctor said and he was kept there over night. He died that next morning. The vet explained what I have stated above.

My dad just got a ferret he so cute I fall in love with him :-) I love the ferret he may be mine if my dad don't want him anymore :-) were going to pick up his cage tomorrow or Friday :-) my did not bye him he won him as a gift at work :-)
