Costco is a great source for rolling 6 shelf 4'x18"x6' racks, accommodating 800 LB per shelf and 4800 LB total. I have several racks, which I have configured to store the maximum number of small 16-in W x 12-in H x 12-in D Lowes moving boxes. I have a document with an image and description of the contents of each numbered moving box. Finding an item requires that I search the document for the destired item to identify the moving box and then search the shelves for that box. Your 5'x10' unit would support 6 of these racks with 2' of storage in the back for other items. You could have three racks across and two deep, so any rack stored moving box could be accessed by rolling no more than two racks. Alternately, considering how densely packed your storage unit is, you may be able to downgrade to a 5'x5' unit with 3 racks and 1' of storage in the rear of the storage unit. An upside of rack storage is that you can easily move the entire shelf onto a moving truck in the event the storage facility drastically increases your rate and you want to move. Using Lowe's 16-in W x 12-in H x 12-in D moving boxes, each shelf would store 4 boxes, and each rack would store 24 boxes. So the 5'x5' would store 72 small boxes on 3 racks or 144 small boxes on 6 racks in your existing 5'x10' unit.

The difference between the junk in Slab city and junk in urban America, is the junk most Americans live and breathe is invisible: Contaminated ground water, Substandard building materials, forever chemicals, fluorinated surfactants, lead, sulphuric acid, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, asbestos, dioxin, PCBs, aromatic polycyclic hydrocarbons, air pollution, illegal dumping, agricultural runoff, outdated industrial zones surrounded by urban development, legacy radiation sources, cancer clusters, Superfund sites yet to be made safe, abandoned military infrastructure, temporary spent nuclear fuel rod pools upstream from every major city, urban oil and gas wells, abandoned mines. Polluted fisheries. Ship wrecks. the odd lost nuclear warhead. etc etc etc Most of the US of America is just one giant junk yard.

My humble opinion I would just mix these videos in on the Switched channel and keep your life simple. I would also film as much van stuff as possible as the sights from different locations are good for views! Doing switched to Linux stuff on a picnic table with outdoor sights in the background is WAY more engaging! Either way I enjoy Linux and Vanlife, best of luck in 2024!

Good to see you're doing well Tom. I know for a fact that Kansas does have some really nice camping spots (I live in Kansas). One of these days I'm thinking of traveling like you do, but I'd probably do an RV and not a van with a traditional power hookup, or at least a van with solar with the ability to hookup to traditional power at a campground.

Do you have to have a specic fuse panel to handle a load like that. Mine looks like yours but says it's 30 amp
@TuxTraveler Жыл бұрын
I don't l know the model I have. I am pretty sure I went with either a 30 or a 50 since my load off the box on DC is not calculated to get that high. Most things in my box are fine on a 10 AMP max circuit, and most things actually draw an amp or less.

19:40 What is an uplift kit? With a fuse box? I can't find this on google. Do you just mean lift kit? that is common and I get that. uplift sounds like a kit that lets you adjust the height and that sounds cool if you can point me towards it.

The uplift kit is an option from the dealer that adds some extra gadgets, probably a wheelchair lift, and I think a few other options.

Yep...Fort Rucker is the Army Aviation Training Center, Pensacola is a Naval Aviation Training Center, and Eglin AFB is not far to the south...and lucky us, we get helos from all 3! As others have stated, they fly day and night, and during nighttime navigation training/exercises, they will occasionally slow down or hover over waypoints. I used to work marijuana eradication in Covington County, just to the west of Geneva County, and had the pleasure of flying with pilots from all of them, plus the Air National Guard, the State Troopers, and the CAP. Once they found out where I lived, it was not uncommon at all, for years, for them to hover over my house, sometimes even a couple in the same day, until I came out so they could wave at me! Geneva Lake is one of my goto places to fish and shoot video, but the fish are always small, the only exception being "tiny"! We call it Dinktown! LOL Stay Safe!

i have only a top 2 really really annoyances :p 1. the fridge i have is a compressor fridge and it is very noisy... (the fan ) and turns on a lot. i have to sleep with earplugs or i don't get any sleep ( i'm sleep very lightly ) . It's has a freeze compartment but this fridge is also not great for really freezing stuff for longer. 2. when i made the van, i thought 666kilo's is a lot for building... well.. it's not .. i have only 60kg left ( so when alone, i can eat, have clothes, and stuff ) but when i take a friend or passenger i am above the 3500kg limit immediatly.. and that is something... i really miscalculated and already with modifications to lower my weight..

@TuxTraveler Жыл бұрын
Plywood is heavy and expensive right now. Aluminum would bend too easily.
@joshua_lee732 Жыл бұрын
@TuxTraveler I didn't day anything about aluminum sheet, if you get a proper plate it's work. As for plywood, yeah it's expensive but honestly I think it'll last longer than your plastic
@TuxTraveler Жыл бұрын
Moisture builds up under beds, making plywood not as good as an option due to mold potential. The plastic is still in perfect shape. Best building material I have used in here, but sadly, I have not seen it anywhere except that one lowes in CA.
