i believe a 20 inch barrel would be considered a rifle length. I have a 16 inch saddle ring carbine. Both can be carried in a scabbard on horseback. The 16 inch would be more convenient in a vertical carry near the saddle horn. I have been blessed to find the 16 inch in a 30-30 and 44 mag, both angle eject. The Williams peep sight is an aftermarket add on. The Williams peeps have mounting options for the early model you have and for an angle eject. The angle eject is factory drilled to mount a scope or a Peep. The benefit of the 20 inch is more velocity. than the 16 inch. Great video, thanks.

Spidermonkey, I own a Model 25 and several newer state of the art 22s. While I have owned mine for 60 + years it is still the most accurate rifle I own. I also use new CCI Mini Mag ammo which outperforms most if not all other ammo I typically am able to buy. So why the negative comments about them?

I shouldn't have said that. I really have nothing against them

My memories of the 49 ithaca come from my best friend / next door neibghor, he got one for his 14th B= Day i think . Me, dad had given me a rem 511 at age 9 . Why he and his family showed up there ? 2 summers , then he drowned in the river , Why his family wanted me to be a onerary palbearer there , from where he came ? He could shoot that little rifle very well.

In the summer of 1965 I went into Kittredge Sporting Goods in Mammoth Lakes CA, i was 11 yrs old and wanted to buy a Daisy M-1894 BB gun like my friend had. My uncle said "wouldn't you rather have a .22?" So I looked at their selection of new single shot .22's and it was either a Remington M514 or the Ithaca M49. Loved the look of the Ithaca but even then the pot metal receiver and bbl band turned me off. I bought the Remington ($22) and never regretted it. It still looks great after thousands of rds and a new extractor.

Spidermonkey2A. Good video and nice gun in great shape. When I was a kid (~70 years ago) we had a very old single shot .22 that was probably from the 30's or 40's that sat behind my grandparents back entry door. It was in pretty rough shape! But that was the first gun I ever shot. Thanks for sharing and I will look forward to seeing more of your family's guns. Take care.

Yes I had a good deer season this year. I harvested 2 does, a button buck and a spike. Here in NC we can take deer with 22lr and I have taken many with head shots inside 50 yards. This year I took the first one with my Ruger 10/22 then decided to take each deer with rifles I have not hunted with yet. So my second deer was with my 6x45 Bear Creek AR-15 with a 24" heavy contour ss barrel from Black Hole Weaponry. My third deer was with my Remington 700 Magpul in 260 Remington. The forth was with my Ruger American in 7mm08. If I had taken another one this season it would have been with my Mosin, oh well, I'll start with it next year. Then the 8mm Turkish Mauser, my M 70 in 338 WIn Mag and finally the 458 SOCOM. That's the plan for next season. This started because my wife asked me why I had so many guns when I do most of my hunting with just one or two. So I decided to spread a little love around the collection. Lol

It's always enjoyable harvesting game with different calibers. Do the deer ever run far with using 22lr?
@BryanShull-lt8gz8 күн бұрын
I've tried twice to respond and they keep disappearing??? No, they dont go more than 30 or 40 yards. The 22 doesn't seem to spook them.@@Spidermonkey2a
@BryanShull-lt8gz8 күн бұрын
@@Spidermonkey2aI don't know if these are getting through the filter. I text and send and they don't show up. The 22lr is great for head shots inside 50 yards and no they don't run. Even behind the shoulder they don't go far because the 22lr doesn't spook them.

I seem to be a Ruger Man, probably b/c of my dad's brand loyalty (I will always regret selling his .22 Ruger target pistol for pennies on the dollar after he passed...). I now have a P95 9mm (my first handgun, maybe eight years ago) and an SR22 which I love. The Security 380 seems like that perfect fit for me, as I am not crazy about 9mm recoil, and I want something that is more reliable than .22LR.

I feel light primer strikes r an issue with the security series the hammer is in a weak state and then pulling the trigger fully moves it into full cock but I’ve seen the security 9 have light primer strikes on ammo that shoots fine thru all other 9s

If you condider the single-stack mag of the .45 Shield a 'downer', you can always pick the M&P Compact .45 with its 8+1 capacity. The standard 6rd mags of the .45 Shield offer a true 6+1 carry proposition. The mag with the extended floorplate provides for 7+1 carry.
