Can I hide the zipper? I saw a video of a young woman walking in public in a foreign country. A man moved towards her, opened her backpack, and slipped a package in. She was later searched and charged with drug possession. If that is possible, because the zipper is accessible, I would like to know if this model makes it difficult for someone to do that.
@ThePerfectBagКүн бұрын
That's a very specific scenario. If you are very concerned about that, I'd say look for a backpack with lockable zippers rather than hideable zippers.

I just bought one of the sling bags and it fulfils my expectations and requirements above pretty much every other sling I've had. Size, shape, capacity, add on/attachment points, materials, strap capability. I might also prefer the back to be the same material, but maybe it's too slippery or rough. I have the sling pouch in dyneema, and many other DSPTCH products which I love. Made in USA by a true design and manufacturing company justifies the price for me. I will add on that the sling is very modular in design, I added pouches on the MOLLE and strap and it turned into a high tech and super efficient beast. It will be hard to find some thing better IMO, for my purposes.

Man, love the review, dislike the bag. That’s a bummer, been waiting for this one for a long time. Sigh, the search for the perfect bag continues…
@lornelorne57272 күн бұрын
It really disappoints me that it's only half X-Pac. The "bottom" is a regular fabric, and when you're actually wearing it that isn't the bottom but actually the side. So one half of it has worse aesthetics and worse weather resistance, defeating the purpose of getting X-Pac.

I have the large one since several months and it’s a great daily bag. I use the small back pocket for my credit card 💳 and it’s great. Dsptch always make a great job 👏

I own this bag and it was awesome as a daily bag while traveling. the way the bag wraps around your body makes it look smaller than it is. I really highly recommend people wear it either cross body where the bag bends around your side. even wearing on on shoulder looks and feels good. i loved this bag so much i bought the unit shoulder bag in dyneema.
@ThePerfectBag2 күн бұрын
What do you think of the shoulder bag vs this?
@asimplefarmer2 күн бұрын
@@ThePerfectBag depends on the person's needs for sure. the shoulder bag has more compartments and is a pretty large bag that still wraps making it feel a bit smaller, unlike a messenger bag. I live in a big city so daily carry between the two can depend. sometimes it was just the vibe of the bag but sometimes i needed to bring more stuff. i agree with you that the rear pocket on the sling is too small. I used it to hold mints and transit cards. i could squeeze my iphone 14 pro in it but it was tough to take it out. I wear a lot of hats and the small fidlock on the bag was great to hold my hat through the hat adjustment band if im out all day. The unit sling was great travelling since it was my personal item that could store a ton of stuff for an international flight. easily have my gear on me like chargers, phones, even a usbc game controller to play emulators on my phone. the unit shoulder bag might be able to get away as a personal item, but it could depend on the airline. while it could hold a laptop in the large top compartment, you lose the body wrapping-ness of these bags.

Also a very similar bag is the Heldclosely day bag (11/15 liter). I love mine and I bought it after I saw your review of the bigger traveler bag but it was too big for my taste. The small one is brilliant in my opinion with more pockets than the Dsptch. Definitely worth to check out. But unfortunately even more expensive. Thanks for the good review.

I think the reason for the black material on the back side is to make it less slippery on your body. So the bag stays better in position. But if the quality is not on par with the rest that’s a problem I think. But I think I will still buy one. But the Dyneema version, I love me my Dyneema and Ultra material.

I am hoping that fidlocks are more of a fad that soon will disappear. I don't trust my adhd self not to lose my bag weekly accidentally undoing the fidlock. Maybe side release buckles will come back into style.
@asimplefarmer3 күн бұрын
i have the same fear, but that fidlock on the main strap is actually pretty difficult to remove. even pulling on the pull tab requires a bit of effort.

interesting - do Japan bags tend to have the back side qap?! Is that a think there, Klint?
@ThePerfectBag3 күн бұрын
I've got it on some, btu not on others. I wouldn't say it's cultural, just a feature that is used maybe more frequently than other places in a country with strong public transit. a simple place to put train tickets or receipts. I think in the US that would be for hiding your passport or wallet.
@epretto3 күн бұрын
@ makes sense. In my situation, the top QAP is more useful when interacting with my backpack as a car driver. Do you think that would explain the demand for top QAP in the US?

Orvis is heavily known in the fly fishing industry that’s why they added the side straps above the water bottle pockets so it can be used for fishing rods and tubes. This style is very similar to a fishing bag Simms makes it just seems like it is tried to incorporate everyday functionality with fishing/outdoors functionality and I think they did a good job of it
