I really enjoyed this video. In the early 1960's my father was stationed on Guam . I was about 8 years old and lived in the very neighborhood where Old Wive's Beach is located. Back then I knew it as Shell Beach. I played , Little League Baseball at the field where you parked. I knew at the time that a lot must have gone on there from WWII. I could see bomb craters from the bluff to the right of the bay. I never knew what was under the water. The video amazed me, I would love to dive on it now.

That's awesome. I lived in Guam as a military brat when I was very young as well. It's crazy seeing how it has changed over the years. My parents were avid divers here in the 90s and they say the wild life is doing way better than when they were there. They never saw sea turtles for example and now they are everywhere.

Friendly reminder - 139 to Persimmon Beach ENDS at the bluff. Vehicle traffic down the hill onto the gravel is illegal and is suddenly being enforced. Myself & two others were warned this past weekend. You can camp out there but you must park on the hill and carry your gear. $180 fine.

@CHEXPLORE if you look at the MVUM map, the ranger is right, the road stops on the hill. I've never been called out in two or three years and all of a sudden it's an issue. I was actually told to leave my vehicle unattended on the hill all night and only drive down to get my trailer when I broke camp. I've seen the yahoos that come down there late at night. No thanks. He told two others out on the point to do the same thing. One left altogether and one left early the next morning.

@@CHExplore1it’s always been that way that you can’t drive out on the shoreline to camp. You can walk you stuff out there and camp but not drive your vehicle. The rule is you can camp at the end of Forest Service roads and yes they have been ticketing. Sorry 😢. Trying to protect the lands.

I have had mine since 2018 and I love it. The weight size durability packability hit all the sweet spots. It is expensive but if you use if enough I think it is worth it. I'm 6'3" and think that is about the limit for my model I lay at an angle and its fine but if I were to lay straight either my feet or head would touch the tent wall. overall highly recommend

Awesome video. I want to do this ride someday but I have a F150 Super Crew with the 157" wheelbase so the truck is about 19' long so my concern is it to long? Why do you air down?
@CHExplore1
@CHExplore1 Жыл бұрын
With a truck that long I'd be concerned about some tight corners on switch backs but I don't want to dissuade you cause I am definitely not an expert on this trail. I would recommending asking the Canyonlands park rangers. I talked with them before I hopped on the trail as well. Airing down helps to increase traction and makes for a smoother ride!

Want to mention how much I appreciate your style in the videos I've watched so far, especially when it comes to the audio portion of your videos. The vast majority of travel channels fill every second of their videos with either canned music or narrations, sometimes both. I like the fact that you simply allow the content to speak for itself most of the time. I think it helps convey, as much as possible through a screen, what it's actually like to just BE in these places. I'm sure things will change as you evolve, but I hope you keep leaning in this direction.
@CHExplore1
@CHExplore1 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yea more often than not I feel a lot content on youtube is extremely over edited and will not age well lol. I did get a DJI drone to throw some areal shots in and im not sure how im going to handle those shots yet... probably just overlay ambient audio recorded from that area (crickets, rustling grass, etc...). Im not sure if you've ever tried to narrate a video but I find its pretty difficult lol so I just try to do the bare minimum to tie the shots together into a coherent story. im not a fan of talking to the camera in general, feels super goofy. Glad your enjoying them! Almost on the road again for the next adventure.

I wanted to hate on you because I'm so jealous. Seriously, though, when you dropped the Super Troopers quote, I immediately subscribed for that alone! Last month, I finished-up a road trip out west, which included Big Bend NP, in my GTI. I'm thinking I want something AWD the next time I go out, so I can explore more, but after watching this video it's now crystal clear to me the difference between AWD recommended and high clearance/4x4 required.... holy crap! Keep them coming.
