The tree with the berries is a Texas madrone and they are edible. NPS has a page with other edible plants in big bend

Awesome video! I’ve been to Big Bend 3 times but have never camped in the park. Your videos inspire me to do it one day!

It's an awesome park. Camping out there has been some of the best I've experienced after a year on the road. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Enjoyed your video ! One of the loneliest places I’ve ever been, and a place I would love to go back and do the same hike again. Thanks for sparking that desire in me to go back👍👍 The ups and downs on that trail really do kick some butt 🤣🤣 New Sub

Want to mention how much I appreciate your style in the videos I've watched so far, especially when it comes to the audio portion of your videos. The vast majority of travel channels fill every second of their videos with either canned music or narrations, sometimes both. I like the fact that you simply allow the content to speak for itself most of the time. I think it helps convey, as much as possible through a screen, what it's actually like to just BE in these places. I'm sure things will change as you evolve, but I hope you keep leaning in this direction.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea more often than not I feel a lot content on youtube is extremely over edited and will not age well lol. I did get a DJI drone to throw some areal shots in and im not sure how im going to handle those shots yet... probably just overlay ambient audio recorded from that area (crickets, rustling grass, etc...). Im not sure if you've ever tried to narrate a video but I find its pretty difficult lol so I just try to do the bare minimum to tie the shots together into a coherent story. im not a fan of talking to the camera in general, feels super goofy. Glad your enjoying them! Almost on the road again for the next adventure.

Great stuff! Thank you for the experience! The tree with the fruit was a Texas Madrone Tree, they are edible, though I have never had one.

I appreciate it! I loved Arizona. Can't wait to explore it more! I need to hike more in general, spending too much time driving.

How do you like your Duplex tent?
@CHExplore1 Жыл бұрын
I have had mine since 2018 and I love it. The weight size durability packability hit all the sweet spots. It is expensive but if you use if enough I think it is worth it. I'm 6'3" and think that is about the limit for my model I lay at an angle and its fine but if I were to lay straight either my feet or head would touch the tent wall. overall highly recommend

@@CHExplore1 I picked up a the blue version for my South Rim hike last year. Like it, but may be a tad bit noisy in windy conditions.
@CHExplore1 Жыл бұрын
@@tex24 agreed I'd say high wind is it's weakest attribute. If possible i always try and find a spot blocked by the wind. Not possible out in the desert most of the time lol

A recent post date, but when did your trip actually occur? (park seems empty for this, the high season). Great stuff by the way
@CHExplore13 жыл бұрын
The hike portion was last week Dec 13-15. The front of the park around chisos basin was very busy. But as soon as you got out on the dirt roads and outside of day hike range was very empty! Only passed 1 person on day 2 of the hike "Dodson trail" portion.

Would you recommend any of those hiking trails suitable with a 10 year old child? Taking my daughter exploring more and soon headed to garner state park to test it out with her.
