Me who knows nothing about decks: "oh wow....yea they put uh....double sided uh...joint latches double tape....and....yea two screws there...seems right...yea ok thats not bad."
@klwarhouseКүн бұрын
Serious question. Why cant deck screws be used on the hangers?
@rigidinspections21 сағат бұрын
Screws do not have shear strength. They will break

Yes it could

Can the posts just be base concreted and top toenailed or need brackets at the top ?

Looks like a cantilever. Those aren't as important as If they were the only support. Just takes some of the bounce out

Pretty sure they use 3rd party contractors, but seriously... WTF? What recourse do you have when someone does such a bad job? At least we're forewarned now that we have to watch the installers like a hawk and yell at them whenever we see them trying to take a shortcut. That being said, I'd probably just undo the terrible install and do it myself, taking enough time to do it the right way. This is why you should pay installers by the hour, and not a fixed fee per install!

I'd have to say somebody didn't have enough bathrooms so they converted a closet to a bathroom. That being said, my friend converted the middle floor stacked washer/dryer closet to a bathroom and managed to fit in a slim sink. It's a little crowded, but it's the only bathroom on the main floor; the townhouse was originally built with 2 bathrooms on the 3rd floor and no other bathrooms. (first floor is mostly garage).

My brain ached, and my eye twitched WTF ! If I lived in the area, I would help her out and tear that mess out and build her a proper deck to code

I thought you would normally not pay the full amount until the job is done and inspected.

Is this deck worth saving? I don’t think this deck can even be reused as a starting point for a future deck rebuild. This deck has to be trashed. Start it all over.

Looks like he didn't want to waste any material he built the deck and used the scrap wood for the rest😅😅😅... stuff you would normally throw away he just pieced it in there he didn't want to spend the money on a new piece of wood

I have been building decks for 23 years now in the St. Louis area and I have seen some messed up stuff and have had to tear down and fix some messed up stuff, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything this bad. Being that I am in the same area where this happened I will definitely keep that company name in my mind. Thanks for the video. Great job on putting it out there.

I unfortunately have one of these in my home. We’ve had breakers trip due to over heating thank god. I’d love to get a new panel but we were quoted like $4500 and my tight wallet won’t cave. I wish the electrical department at the government deemed these a hazard and recalled them to at least give people that have them compensation. I’ll probably bring myself to budging and getting a new panel in the spring. Fyi a smoke detector/co2 detector that syncs with our alarm system is right above it if anything were to happen.

Roofers get away with a lot of crap because they know the majority of homeowners are not going to go up on the roof and inspect it when they are finished.

I'm an aquarium hobbyist and I build my own stands. Some basic builds with just 2x4 and screws, some finished with all the trimmings. I think I have more screws and support in a really basic 55 gallon tank than that whole build. What a joke. And a dangerous one at the. Get her a lawyer. Sue his ass into the ground.
