I'm currently playing Black List for my 5th play through, thru the years, on Windows 10, i9 129000kf and rtx 2060 super. It was very well done and I enjoy mostly, how you can change ways to approach missions depending on how you're feeling that day. Loud or sneaky, both great options! There is currently a crashing issue that is easily fixed with a properties target line addition, thank goodness!

I dont agree. The original Deus Ex had huge levels for that time and that really added to the sense of scale. Especially the mission where you have to bomb the ship always stood out to me. This enormous level and you are dropped at the gate of the harbour and well, good luck JC, you got this! The size of that level really contributed to the freedom that is so essential to the game, because there were so many ways you could make it to the ship. Mankind Divided really doesnt have aby of this. It feels way to gamified. I mean, technically the levels are better, sure, as they are more interesting and require more thought. But at the price of realism... I mean, its just ridiculous that all these things are there in just 6 city blocks or so. They took one element of the original and made that the entire game. Having the majoriy of the content in a single locaton is a mistake, clearly, forced or unforced. The whole point of Deus Ex is that its a world-wide conspiracy and adventure, and travel to all these iconic locations is just an integral part of it. You really play the story instead of it being told to you. That moment you first arrived in Hong Kong after experiencing already so much, and then discover how huge this entire new area is, was just something breathtaking at that time. And only to discover once you played through all of that, that you are not even near the end of the game. So, it was all about playing an immersive sim in tandem with a huge world, a ton of interesting story plots, locations and characters that made the game so good.

For the full picture on augmentations, several other cases should be mentioned, like - corporate investment into augs for worker, basically making said worker highly in debt to that company - same examples are for other power figures, even at lower strata, like prostitution - credit bought augs Then there are people who got ostricized for their decision. They are not reach, they could allow themselves some enhancements. Though later they got into whole situation with corporate control of distribution. Lot of them were subsequently met with mental breakdowns, loss of mental functionality. Walking into black market into other forms of dependancy, what is important for corps to test new, experimental versions of drug. And regardless of position in strata - as soon, as number of augmented people got into vulnerable position, some groups brought up ostricizing campaigns. It's easy to beat down weak one, to manipulate people on hating someone in such position. Basically while augs were a fad in prime, people later got into a bad position. Not without help from rich ones, from corps.

As an aside: The Splinter Cell community is actually partly to blame for the poor state of the PC version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Well before the release of the game, fans got together on the official Ubisoft forums and organized a sizeable petition to have "version 1", i.e. the Xbox 360/PS3 version by Ubisoft Shanghai, come to PC instead of the originally planned "version 2", i.e. the Xbox/PS2/Wii version by Ubisoft Montreal. The general consensus at the time was that the PC as a platform was more than capable at running next gen games, so why shouldn't fans on PC also get the 'best' version of the game? Ubisoft eventually relented and announced in a much celebrated forum post that, after listening to customer feedback, the PC version would instead be based on the "next gen"/Ubisoft Shanghai version. While obvious in hindsight, back then there was no indication that this particular community involvement would doom the PC version to become the mess of bugs, poor gameplay and washed out shadows that we see in the video. Apparently, even the bare-bones version of the game for the Nintendo Wii is superior to the PC version.

I bought OG splinter cell for PS2 in '08 when i was 8 at my local video store, think a regional blockbuster if you will, they just did games too. I played the shit out of it and to this day i could probably go through every mission and remember exactly what to do and when. My older brother had pandora tommorow for the OG xbox. I will forever love splinter cell, and i can say without a doubt, blacklist gets shit on for very little legit reasons. I would argue for the time, it was the best splinter cell that could've been made. I really enjoyed the game and never understood the hate. Michael Ironside was not involved and that's a travesty. It was never a deal breaker for me. It did throw off the gameplay a bit, but wasn't hard to get used to. I hate that blacklist gets so much hate. Conviction really killed the series, and is definitely a worse game by far. I really would like to see a revival of the series with some new games, but sadly, ubisoft would never grace us with a good new splinter cell entry. I blame ubisoft.

Dandelion in this game is infinitely better than TW3's version where he's the worst character in the game. I think one of the problems with TW1 is that it was too much of a love letter to the polish book readers (iirc the English translations had not yet been released) so obviously you were meant to know these characters. Criticism of this game's environment and combat is unfair. For starters this is built in the same engine as NVN 1&2 and this game is better than both with living, breathing environments of people with their own routines, compared to the static NPCs in most games until around the early 2010s. If you go into this game comparing it to modern games you'll be sorely disappointed but this is very much TW3 of its time.

It's crazy how, in HZD as well as HFW, your reviews are often full of strong negative reviews of things I loved. Like, I loved the racing! Didn't do any of the other "mini-games" except this one. And the climbing impressed me. It seemed like Aloy could climb so many more things than before. (Maybe this one is because I played HFW right after HZD, and I don't play THAT many games. I play maybe two AAA games a year.) I liked this story better because I like character work over world-building, and I just loved the little family she had by the end of the game. <3 The only thing I really LOATHED was the crafting. Hunting down squirrels or specific birds in order to be able to hold three health potions instead of two was damned tedious! Especially since you have to go to a work station to upgrade. And I do agree that there was just too much. I did love the "frisbee' weapon thingy (I played the game in a different language), but the pile of diff weapons make for a lack of coherence.

Npcs are still a bit lackluster. However, they start driving around blockades after a while now. Still the weakest part of this game. Wanted system is completely fixed tbh. Similar to GTA V now. Only get a star from killing innocents, or threatening a cop. Lvling and difficulty scaling is a lot better now. Interacting in clubs and shops has also been added, but honestly I didn't care much for it. Weapons/loot can now scale with you so iconics you can keep the entire time. Skill trees and cyberware are 10 times better tbh. Way better balanced, more engaging. Combat is so diverse, you can basically build anything, making me play about 7 playthroughs all with different builds. The skill checks are usually limited by the nature of open world. I am not that big of a fan of it. Throwings knives have been changed, making recollecting knives on takedown perks very important for the build. The regular gameplay with regular guns is a bit boring, since I am not a big fan of FPS anyways, but I played 7 playthroughs with different builds and in none of them using regular guns was the main part of the build. I do hate the bullet sponge part. I wish the difficulty scaling was more interesting than just upping their health and damage. Driving is better now, but still not as good as GTA V. At least we got wheelies and vehicle combat. Car AI is a looot better. They try to avoid you more often and react more in general. Car's buying system and lack of customization is rather disappointing. Minimap sucks. Trying to follow direction with it is rough. Took a loooong time to get used to. Outfits are basically fixed, and stats are removed from them (most of it at least). No more looking like a hooker to get the most armor. There are a few things you can put in your apartment, but that's about it. Calls can be rejected now, thankfully. I kind of dislike the way marketing tried to shove that "branching paths" down our throat. Sure choice is nice, but you cannot expect companies to make 20 games in one just to give branching paths. Capitalism just doesn't allow it. I am perfectly fine with the limited choices and illusion of choice in the game. It gives a little diversity which makes you feel like you can shape your V, although there are only usually like 3 options. Overall, this video holds up decently well. 2/3 of the points are at least adressed in the game now, where I would say half of those are definitely giant improvements. Personally the immersion is still great, but I do wish the npcs were better. The story and characters hard carry this game in most ways, while combat is enjoyable enough to make me come back multiple times.

The problem is, it's a total Tomb Raider ripoff. The bow and arrow. The sneaking. The traversal. The puzzle mechanics. All that's different is the tone and setting. Other than that, it's a Tomb Raider wanabee. Just like Ellie from Last of Us. There's only one girl in gaming, with a bow and arrow. Aloy is discount Lara Croft all day long, and she always will be. If she ever comes back, which is debatable. The game was up for this series, before it even began.

Its fine to defend this game. I like it too. But, Chaos Theory has the best story and best villain. That game is so far from cliche that if you say Blacklist has a minor generic plot, then Blacklist can't possibly have the best story. That's my two cents though.

original splinter cell for me was like MGS being reborn, it had one of the most ambitious game mechanics and physics i had seen, it also was hugely original creative inovative and immersive titles...it was the definition of a paradox an action game which was every bit a simulation....i just loved it like only a very few games i have played, even today the original stands out, though i really wish more devs would follow it's lead and not play safe with tried and trusted, and ultimately boring formats..

The end made me glad i sharted all over Caelar's speeches. Screw honor, suck on some poisoned potatoes and water. Only wish there was a moment where Caelar admitted her bullshit to everyone so she would be remembered by everyone as the bloody hag rather than shining lady before letting you toss her back into hell like Moe does to Barney. I never had trouble with progression/pathing. Knew about the wardstone to enter the fort (characters tell you about it in camp) and my habit of exploring before going to the obvious progression led me to the temple where the crusaders who stole the stone were. I did all the sidequests i could find and read everything i could. The seige was easy thanks to the poisoned supplies, barrel of BWOOOSH!!, kidnapped trolls i freed. The combat throughout was managable imo (core difficulty btw) Only thing i struggled with was the ghost dragon just wanting me to walk past (figured it out when i snuck past, triggering her explanation 😅)

You completely misunderstand TW2's combat system. No, this game is not meant to be a traditional sword and shield game, far from it. It's combat is designed around mobility. You dive in with the stab, block the opponents strike, counter attack, roll away, cast a sign and rinse and repeat. If you stand around trying to hack and slash at an opponent, especially a group of opponents you're in for a long day of reloading. I'm playing the game at time of writing and I've been backstabbed once during the prologue as I relearned the controls. It's very easy to not get hit in this game. The key to this game is knowing what sign to cast when in combination with which strike against who with effective blocking is necessary especially on Dark Mode. The Kayran fight is again on you, not the design. It has never once occurred to me to go up to the Kayran and try kill it, the thing spits poison. The logical path is to go up the rubble, that just makes perfect sense. That said I do agree it is a toxic fight because it whacks you with its non-killable tentacles. I also had the same situation were on my first playthrough I had to chop 4, my second was 3 but I noticed that whilst you have no say in the matter, you get one less piece of Kayran skin if you do 3, meaning you are unable to craft both the armour and the enhancement. In that it's badly done because you're not presented with a choice so you're forced to fight through that toxic boss fight again. I would also recommend importing a TW1 save with the best armour and best swords, which will carry you through the Prologue, and contrary to this video's claim, so long as you don't have your best sword equipped during the Dragon scene, all your gear is recovered once you reach Flotsam. You have to re-equip your Silver Sword though. The Sorceress in TW1 is thought to be Phillipa since it's the same VA playing both parts, and the thing she doesn't want Geralt to know about is the Lodge which is pretty much confirmed if you rescue Triss in Loc Muinne. She states that Sile saw him as a threat to their plans. Probably my most hated thing in TW2 is the game model for Letho which is just ridiculously OTT, and the generic tough guy voice the VA uses almost makes him seem like a parody. It also made no sense that he had an American accent (for that matter nor did it for Triss) since the American accent is meant to be a Rivian accent, something Geralt taught himself to give himself some kind of background. This was a mistake perpetuated continued in TW3. Letho is a Nilfgaardian, his accent should have reflected that. It's not that he's badly acted, but I wouldn't say it was great either, the performance failing to deliver any kind of nuance or emotion in it. Letho's quite a complex and sympathetic character but sadly the VA never manages to convey that through his performance. Just a point on Iorveth is not a freedom fighter because he's not fighting for equal rights for Elves, he's fighting to reclaim Elven civilisation and that boat has long since sailed by the time of TW series. Iorveth fights for vengeance, nothing more. Roche on the other hand is a professional, and does what he does for the love of country. Although never outright stated, I believe him to be a professional like Ves who kills Elves because that's his job, not because he's a racist. If his job was to kill Redanians he'd put just as much vigour into that as he does non-humans. Geralt being a bodyguard, he tells you the reason to Roche in the prologue "Foltest isn't somebody you say no to". He doesn't really have that much of a choice. Plus there's also Triss to consider who at this point he is in love this. This is unequivocal because you have not yet been offered the choice not to be, that comes in Flotsam. The prologue is narratively linear. All in all, because I have to end this essay somewhere, TW2 is one of the best games ever made, one that is head and shoulders above the competition of its time. I really hope they do a full trilogy remake in the UE5 engine, not stop at the first game which will make sense since TW1 remake will be the best looking of the series.

Walking simulator games are my favorites. I like exploration games a lot, exploring new places in the world, engaging in the narratives, etc. What Remains of Edith Finch remains one of my favorites if I be very honest. I hated the game because of its disturbing content and almost gonna give up before I gave it a second try. I was glad I did cause I fell in love with the game. And yes, I felt an impact after knowing Lewis's fate, it was my favorite arc. Since then I have played games like: - The Suicide of Rachel Foster - Firewatch - Dear Esther - Painscreek Killings (almost in the end) - The Town of Light (started playing) Gone Home and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter are on my list. Any suggestion for games like these is welcomed.
