My pan pastels always come out muddy. How do you keep the color so clean?

I am a little late in watching this. I was wondering if you could answer a question. You see, I have a complete set of Rembrandt pastels and a complete set of Conte a Paris pastel pencils. What I was wondering about was can I use the Rembrandt pastels with the applicator for thin applications of pastel on paintings. Then using the colored pencils on top of that for detail? Thanks in advance if you find time to answer my question.

For some reason, I felt your recommendation of the brushes was important to me. (I rarely listen to hype especially on brushes -needing to touch, feel, etc before spending) BUT Lisa you were right! Ordered same day, been playing with them, here's my take....the pointed round is very nice, but surprise-the flats are knife sharp edges, and you get tons of nylon brushes in a practical case, for under $20. Are they kolinsky? No. But they have a nice spring, hold color, and are fun to use! So a big thank you- 💛🧡💛🧡

Pastel changed my life in that I couldn't paint loose in watercolor and I am naturally detailed and tight. Pastels caused me to scribble and then sort of carve out my subject - completely new experience 🎉 now I want BOTH 🎉 YOU ARE A MASTER! I'm obsessed with learning 🎉 Obsessed. Imitation is the Greatest form of flattery!

Great tip. I use hot glue instead, just like you used here. Hot glue gives me the added flexibility that if I get the handle back on crooked I can just pull it off and try again. It holds great and has saved several of my brushes.

Lachri! Thank you SO much for this video, as I've been really wanting to take my acrylic work to the next level! But I have a question about the mop brush: Doesn't it get really gummy/coated and/or hard to clean after using on an acrylic painting with this technique? Could you provide how often you need to clean it, or swap out a fresh one during one say, 4-hour painting session?
@Lachri4 күн бұрын
It should be getting minimal paint on it, so you only need to rinse the very tips to clean it, then instantly I dry it on a paper towel going in circles on it until dry. I recommend having at least two brushes to go back and forth between so that one can be completely dry before you're ready to swap it out. 3 is even better. It needs to have the very tips rinsed each time you blend with it or it will get crusty.

Bought a pack of about 15 'artists' brushes from a pound shop, £5-6, for a decorating project. Half of them were cheap hair brushes that were no good for anything; but some were synthetics that impressed me so much, I kept them for finer work.

I am Belizean, and have several wild spiders around, and i love approaching the little jumping spiders, and if you take it slow, and introduce yourself politely, you are guaranteed an adorable little spidey high five and often even have them explore your hand for a while, i always put them back where i found them. they're so cute

It happens to me all the time on " Deviantart " and " Newgrounds ". It's like they don't take art seriously and just see it as a person's hobby but they would spend seventy or a hundred dollars on a bunch anime and japanese stuff.
