Can't get enough of these classic match ups. Absolutely wonderful! (love Earl's shirt!)😅

Bowling balls were so much weaker then. Not a single ball split the 8/9.

Ernie now bowls with our team on Thursday nights. Still the same guy, quite a character! But really, a good dude, despite the on air antics

Carmen Salvino is my all-time favorite bowler. He was a terrific showman during an era when many professional bowlers were stoic, unwilling to show emotions. Funny, nowadays most bowlers emote like Salvino during his heyday.

I forgot how ugly DW's release was. NO follow through. I'm glad Pete's form was the opposite. I know it worked for DW though obviously its still ugly though lol

If that one dude hadn’t 2-10 it would have been an interesting match but alas good win by Dave

kinda makes my head spin knowing that Mr. Anthony didnt go full time pro until he was THIRTY YEARS OLD. What was he doing with his life before that? The thought of him being around since,i dunno,1960…phew

And in 4 years from the time of this win, Earl will die in a freak falling accident at one of his friend’s house. That reminds me of this old adage: With friends like that, who needs any enemies.

I was around 6 or 7 years old when I first watched bowling on Saturdays; Earl Anthony’s dark frame glasses, crew cut, and machine-like efficiency rolling the ball set him apart. And besides, he was born in Tacoma, which is pretty much the only thing we have in common

EA is the greatest, on and off the lanes always a class act, always cool and calm, never yelling and screaming when he won, just another day at the office. He dominated an era where it took skill, todays pros have it so much easier with todays equipment, todays pros would struggle with those older conditions and equipment

Wow, Salvino had quite the high backswing when he was young. As he got a bit older, it was a fair amount lower. Always one of my favorite pros. Last I heard, he was still bowling well into his 80's.

None of you remember the days when the tournament leader at the end of 40 games was the winner. To lead EVERY round of qualifying is almost unheard of in the modern era. To bowl almost flawlessly and lose in a one game roll off is pretty gut wrenching. I feel for Forkel.
