Hey David, West Point isn't a requirement for the SB6K this was just a fun day hiking and exploring off-trail out to that point. I can send you my GPX file to the west point if you'd like it. Just PM me on FB Messenger. I often times don't show details of off-trail stuff due to safety reasons. good luck on your SB6k

@@JohnnyontheTrail Yes I know. I have done the SB6K. But I think that there are a grand total of 77 or 78 6K peaks east of the Mississippi, including Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. I am using List of John for the list of 6K peaks. Anyhow, I will PM you shortly, if I can figure out how to do it!

Hey, I have a couple of questions. First, what time did you get to the trailhead? And where is West Point? I’m local (Rogersville) and my husband and I are currently working on our map (I promise not to give info away!). We’ve tried to avoid the crowds and haven’t done any routes to LeConte yet (I’ve only been to Rainbow Falls). Also, since you’ve been so many times, what is your suggestion for combining routes and days to go to avoid the biggest crowds (and time of year). Any info would be great. Also, if you give any of this info in the video, ignore those requests. I’m doing this as I watch on my tv lol Thanks!!
@JohnnyontheTrail
@JohnnyontheTrail 4 ай бұрын
we got to the trailhead around 6:45 it was still dark out. but i heard shortly after 7 this day the parking lot filled up. There is no trail to west point so it's not needed for your 900 map. It's an off trail hike and not one i'd recommend to anyone that has never done anything off trail. It's too easy to get lost out there. as far as routes to Mt Leconte I would say that Alum is the busiest, Blvd, Rainbow, Trillium Gap or Bull Head are lot less crowded.

Hey Johnny! You should check out the ones in the Alps someday. We just had a bunch of rain and snow here and there are falls all over the mountains that fall over fifty to a hundred feet! Look up pictures of the Cascatella di Fondo just down the road. I kinda miss the gentle hikes of the smokies. Most hikes here are super steep.

Hi Jason, we hiked down to the river below and back up making it a loop hike. I'd have to look at my maps and strava to figure out which trail it was. Also we didn't visit a firetower. we were at an over look at the end of the loop hike that took us up stairs to an over look and to a parking lot. Hope this helps. There are lots of amazing rock to climb if your into that.
