Thanks for sharing this with us all. Very interesting, I’ve walked the whole of the wirral way a few times in the last five years, never before that. Also interesting to read all the comments which serve at times as errata. I’d like to think they’re done in the spirit we all hold, that different people have more detailed local knowledge at times, or they’ve thoroughly researched the old route. It’s all good. Fabulous stuff.

Brilliant. Can you possibly do a video about The Wellington pub (The Little Welly as it's locally known) in Poole Rd, Wallasey please? My late father was the licencee from 1970 until 1982 and our family lived upstairs. I believe it opened it's doors initially in 1915. I would be so greatful if you could research the area in general. Anyways, keep up the fascinating videos. 👍👍👍

Have you ever read any of psychic researcher Tom Slemen's writings on Haunted Wirral? [Series in Wirral Globe and books] Whether you believe them or not, the encounters are supposed to have taken place in recognisable places that exist in Wirral, particularly around Barnston and Heswall area. That could make an interesting basis for some location visits, especially as some people's accounts claim to have seen places, as if through a time slip, as they were in the past.

This woman comes over as a very humble, down to earth human being that went through life completely unchanged despite the fame she achieved. The sort of woman that would make a man a wonderful companion in life. Needless to say, she was a brilliant actress on par with all the greats of her time. RIP sweet lady❤!

Doesn't look much different 100 years later. Amazing footage. Wonder if my grandma was going to church there when she was young. This was probably around the time she married my grandad.

The greatest actress of the last 100 years I think. I was privileged to see her once on the London stage. But I missed some of her films (not many) and it’s time to catch myself up!

I saw her as Elizabeth the great as a 13 year old scoolboy i 1971, who was fixated on history and the past, and I truly fell for this remarkable actress. She opened my eyes, and made me love acting, theatre, movies and TV-plays and the TV-series captured my love for english history. She became my favourite british actress, and she stayed my favourite, and she still is.

I loved every moment of every piece of film with her on it whether movie, interview, documentary, etc. She was true to herself and true to her characters. I loved her for the honesty, integrity, respect and dignity with which she brought her characters to life. She made them real. She was a gift.

39:33 Possibly her most iconic photo, one that is forever etched in my mind. One of the great regrets of my life was that I never had the chance to sit down with the great Ms Jackson and have a proper conversation over coffee. She was such an intelligent tour de force. Miss her terribly. May she never be forgotten.

My father played opposite Glenda Jackson in repetitory theatre in the early 1960s. My mother remembers being totally intimidated by her! 😂 Yes, she was repeatedly told by the director that she was too loud! My mother said she was'a force to be reckoned with', and pretty much all the men present were somewhat fearful of her! My dad was not powerful enough in his size, or masculine force, to be a good match as a leading man for her. Glenda Jackson was also intimidating due to her talent, and was well respected, even then.

My ancestors lived at Church Farm (also known as Lamb's farm). Bidston Hill is the literary template for the volcano Mount Franklin in Jules Verne's Mysterious Island and Spy Glass Hill in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.

Many clubs and societies struggling to find volunteers who are prepared to contribute time and expertise to do all of the behind the scenes work. Covid only made things worse.
@HYUKLDER1
@HYUKLDER1 11 күн бұрын
From 2006, the new safeguarding procedures to protect vulnerable people in voluntary societies and clubs began to bite. People did not want to be insulted by proving who they were and that they were not criminals. Many clubs found difficulty in appointing anyone amongst their committee members who was willing to take on legal responsibility for ensuring there were no fake IDs or criminals amongst their number! This particularly hit clubs that depend on young people joining and staying to ensure sustainability. Scouts have a virtual industry of staff undertaking that work, local clubs do not have such resources. 🙁 The thing is that Parliament imposed the law onto every club but failed to provide public resources to fund the work it created.
