Im going to remain optimistic for now because Gunn did a great job with the guardians movies but I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought they added way too many characters for his first superman movie

100 actors with few known characters. One character gets main focus

Having films with just 1 single hero is more strange than a bunch littered in. No comics or cartoons were ever just 1 single hero. JUST superman? heck no.

Yes. I like James Gunn, but this movie is gonna suck.

I do share concerns with how many characters there are, but again it's about BALANCE. I would hope the movie follows a similar structure to avengers infinity war. Where in that movie it was Thanos and his goal to collect the stones that got the most focus. MAINLY in this case Superman is who we want to see. and the other characters are there to aid in his character growth.

This movie was really bad but I had a fun time with it. Although I have to share that there is a scene in the movie just before missiles are dropped on Kraven he says something and I swear to the Lord about me his lips don’t move all through him saying that. Did anyone else catch that?

I can name only one creator from today who can tackle the task of realizing Superman : Takashi Yamazaki. (Not saying he would succeed). Gunn is a third rate entertainer by old Hollywood standards; a “genius” by the “new” standards. Knock yourselves out to the cosplay Superman.

I like how the Maker's origin is that he didn't grow up in the cushy 1950's utopia that was post-war America.

You hit the Nail on the head when it comes to what Superman is about truly. Hope I cry every time I see a Superman trailer. I think about Christopher Reeve and what he went through and what a Superman he truly was. I think about the little boy that waited in line to see his very first film and I cry. Because that little boy was filled with so much hope.

Personally, sometimes I actually don’t mind the darker and more realistic suits. I love the Netflix Daredevil suit, the Man of Steel suit, and the TASM 1 suit. Even though they may not look too vibrant or comic booky, I don’t mind the more grounded take on the suits and I think it looks great. But, in cases like the x men suits, what they did in those 2000s movies were just straight up lame. Would rather have had full on comic accurate costumes, as they had much more personality and an iconic feel it them. I love the comic accurate suits as well, like the Superman 2025 suits, or even the Final Swing Spider-Man suit from No Way Home

Sure the average movie go-er may not know that nor would they care, but for us comic fans and fans of these movies it just f**ks it up for us. And it will f it up for people who watch these movies and want to delve into the comics out of interest. God damn it are they doing their best to make this multiverse stuff confusing 😂😂

Ok the thing is people are thinking way too hard about it. They are both comic book movies at the end of the day if it’s believable to watch a billionaire dressed up as a bat who fights crime at night than it’s also believable that both reeves Gotham and gunns metropolis could exist in the same world. People are acting as if they are trying to combine Gunns Superman universe with the same universe as Star Trek. Which isn’t even remotely the Case it’s literally just combining both of DC’s most iconic hero’s together in the same universe only difference being is they have very different tones. They should have different tones, it makes for a better fleshed out world to begin with. I want Batman to be drastically different from Superman you know why? Because it’s exactly that in the comics yet they share the same universe in the comics and it just works.

I get the argument that general audiences might be confused about having two Batmans at the same time, but I don’t think that’s a reason not to do it, because if they don’t know it means they don’t care. General audiences treat comic book movies like any other movie: if it looks good they’ll go see it. Halloween (2018) was a hit and 95% of the people had no idea it was a different timeline after Halloween 2 blah blah blah. If you don’t care you don’t care, and if you care enough you can always find out in two seconds with that device in your pocket.

I’m also in the club of invincible fans who don’t really dig his blue and black suit. It’s just the classic suit but way too basic and loses a lot of its character. The classic yellow, blue, and black suit is just so good. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
