I hate the penguin. No, not the show, the man. I rooted for him for 7 episodes and 58 minutes. I saw he was pretty awful in many ways, but I at least sensed some honour within him. Some sense of caring, of hope. Then i felt my guts wrench and I'm utterly distraught. But that is what will make this series one of the most memorable and powerful things I have seen. Providing that Penguin is the antagonist of Batman 2, it will be essential viewing.

After a couple days of thought, I still think the contradiction with him mom holds true, but I think that Oswald just doesn’t have a code. In one of the later episodes I genuinely believed him when he called out one of the other crime bosses and said he did, but he really would throw anyone under the bus.

Broke me after already breaking me, that finale will go down in the books as excellent (and harrowing)

Gosh I’m torn. I thought the acting was good. I liked the intrigue. But there were just no likable characters. Everyone sucked. The Penguin sucked. Sophia sucked. Carmine sucked. Victor was kind of a milquetoast doofus. The list goes on. And the pacing was a bit slow. C+

Ehh, this is a bit of a reach. I think you need to get it out of your head that the characters need to be likeable or fit into a certain category/archetype otherwise you won't ever enjoy different kinds of stuff. 😅 I'd still say there are valid criticisms to make about the show but these don't really count imo they're way too arbitrary, maybe even slippery slope.
