i'm using beta 26.0.0 which is an advanced version from the one shown here. If I do exactly as described to my object that I want removed, I get 3 variations of the same object and not a new background. I can't find the way to just remove the object.

Sorry, but I am not going to believe that a high end retoucher allows these mediocre results on images for clients. Gen Fill leaves a low res, sort of patched area that when you zoom in is often unacceptable, sometimes it is ok-ish. Adobe has had this in PS for long enough to have fixed the low res issue and to have fixed some of the other texture issues that come with Gen Fill. 1024 pixel limit means that any work you are doing needs to be done in small increments resulting in more "generations" to fill an area. Quite the money maker for Adobe if one uses this a lot, as I think the average user gets 250 generation credits per month.
