Out here in the sticks (Lugu lake) no one responded to my request for a ride using Didi.

I've been getting a bit confused by all these 'convenient' payment methods. I added my credit card, but found it only works for upper level rides, not for taxis. So I unlinked it, and tried to link my WeChat, but couldn't as I have no Chinese ID. I assume I can just pay normally with the WeChat pay code/scan.

Had a problem with my phone number when trying to buy a bus ticket from a machine at a bus station, because it only has a UK SIM card at the moment, and the machine would not accept it. Rubbish, Cash is still accepted throughout China with no problem but the Chinese don't like giving change so make sure you have small denominations of Chinese cash and don't expect change. I have just returned from Mainland China and cash is good everywhere.
