This is a sword sport where if I’m not good at it I’ll blame the scoring system and not my slack if skill

Sorry this is not a sport, it's a free practice. There are no points, winner or loser nor referee either.

If the guy who got the armbar doesn't throw himself or roll over, his arm could be broken. This is not necessarily a Nage Waza technique. Falling is not part of the technique. This is just an attempt to get out of it with one arm in one piece.

This looks very fun and I would most definitely do it but I’m aggressive, competitive, and hold grudges so I won’t

Martial arts hone the body and mind, you lose your pride and stop holding grudges when you realise that you're purposefully being matched against superior opponents, its to humble you.

very interesting indeed.. what I don't see is many clear wins on either side. In both cases there are many double hits, or while rushing in for a good strike, a smaller counter strike before the big hit is 'ignored'.. so while you state in the 3 rule set, that you 'fight, as if you used a real sword', maybe some of the double hits would actually been fatal for both of you.. which would be bad on the battlefield, since nothing would be gained. do you also have a rule set for that case? I love the intention and the energy, I just believe that rushing in like that sometimes would not be beneficial if the swords indeed are real.. :-) all over, much respect!

This was very exciting to watch. I love how well the Jujutsu was integrated into the Kenjutsu. Thank you for posting and thank you to the Kenshi.

This video is wonderful. Reminds me of some similar techniques I train in Korean Kwon Bup. I really like how respectful you are towards your training partner. Great work!

There's records of the samurai Okubo Hikosaemon Tadataka who was in service of Tokugawa Ieyasu that seated in seiza with his 3shaku 2 sun sword. You can find it in the Yamakoshi book about Musō Jikiden Eishin ryū iaijutsu Yamauchi (Kyōto brannch) Even there's an ukiyo-e of him
Excellent demonstration 👏 congratulations for everyone

Mi chiedo se contro un muay thai siano efficaci queste tecniche, ho esperienza nelle arti marziali e credo che molte di esse non siano applicabili in un vero scontro, si sono belle da vedere ma...c'è sempre un ma!!!

If you consider the fact that those techniques are meant to be applied with fully equipped samurai armour, most of the movements would make sense e.g. hitting the neck with the blade of the hand. If your opponent is wearing such type of armour, you would not punch his face, as the head is armoured, the neck area remains open and those gauntlets have typically reinforced edges, so that is what people back then would use to attack. It is all context dependant. What initially seems like shitty judo throws might actually be effective if there is armour involved. As preserving the art has higher priority than adjusting the techniques to make them effective for modern circumstances or combat sports, it makes sense that no one consider this to work in "real fights".
