Some other schools have it as well. For example, Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage Ryu. Although, the shape and weight might vary according to the needs of the Ryuha. This is usually an archaic way for strength training and to teach proper form under resistance since the Samurai didn't have our fitness gyms or modern day Sports Science methodology for strength and conditioning etc.

Thank you! I read Ueshiba had custom, extra heavy gardening tools made for him. Both are good ways to get a bit more exercise.@@Darren_Tay

Is this Kondo Isamis Style? I dont know much about Japanese Swordstyles. But I always adored the Shinsengumi.
