this device is not mine. It was restitued to the owner of it. You probably have the same issue than on the video, maybe a drop causing a damage with a desoldered component. You need to open it carrefully and look if there is any damage on it.

it was a measure for alternative voltage. Alternative voltage can be different from a meter to another one, because capacitors used can be slightly different in term of accuracy.

That wirer have another interesting feature. Two 1,5 AAA batterys connected to a Buzzer. One pole IS connected to the metalic bobine. ( The first turn of the cable IS nude and making contact to the metalic bobine). And other pole to the metalic tip. With that you: 1st. When you are peeling the cable , the Buzzer IS making sound. 2nd If you touch with te tip a wired pin , if IS well connected , the Buzzer makes sound.

@guateque1718 hi. Apparently there is no much difference between them. the Mf470 has abilities to measure very high value, for who need it, like many farads in capacitors. But it can also measure very low capacitance. That's a kind of beasty. MEC100 is not so powerfull, even if it uses kelvin clip. Kelvin clip can be used to (supposedly) give better result for ESR and so on). But who cares about so short probe. I think they are quite similar. Kelvin clip for those kind of measurement are useless at my sens. Mf470 seems to have a really specific use for big capacitors measurements. It seems to not suffer from a lack of something... No. A transformer can be safe just with an external fuse on the primary. If a short circuit occurs in the winding, or something similar, the dedicated fuse will blow up at specified intensity. Those kind of internaly protected devices are specific for low consumption compliance, adding a higher security improvement. Mainly those protection are made to prevent thermal runaway. Of course, an external fuse is always need to protect the entire device.

@AIexanderHartdegen I think these chip run hot no matter what. I burnt up 3 of the tda7293 chips using 12v-0-12v power supply. First one burnt up instantly, the other 2 took about 2 to 3 minutes before they fried. I'm looking into other options, these tda chips are junk.

I was stopped by this unknown resistor network. A lot of search and nothing about it, even schematic didn't help at this point. The idea is to build a new resistor network by analysing needle span and voltage injection, each resistor working with the other when using higher caliber. It's on standby for the moment, searching between replacement part or recreating it. Thanks for watching.

Hi, normaly there are all replaced by new versions. They are claimed "anti burn circuit", avalaible in multiple colors (black blue orange and black). Also the result of all those improvement are the price, they are 20 box more than 13 at their first release more than 10 years ago. On ancien version, on voltage caliber, only DC and AC are indicated. On new version, on voltage caliber, you will see % and Hz added. Thanks for your interest.

hello, probably a bad joint connexion on the pcb where the headphones are connected. But also a bad connexion joint on the balance lever potentiometer. Need to reflow them.

Hello, The voltage avalaible on the secondary output is made for T210 and T115. On other unit, like T420, many supplys are required, like 12 V and 24. The old one use 6 AAA batteries and is still sold (If your talking about the really old one). The classic one (blue ass well) use 9 volts battery. The ones of AliExpress use also 9 volts battery. But on the Bob Parker page (EVB portugal) they sell new version, working with 2 AA batterys, wich are great. As you can see, they work all fine.My blue one is the blue one from Ali (9volts battery) with a little bit different start message on the screen, log is slightly different). I had the Sxx model but was stolen at work, in my electronic bag, with tablets and stuff. A bad day. If price is nice you can take it, according your budget. This model is a real value, hard to find. If you want to start differently, you can buy the blue of aliexpress, or the new blue working with 2AA battery (wich is nice). Hope it helps, thanks for commenting.

Because precision of the frequency injected, also difference of unity treatment, according choosen components and so on. You can have different ESR reading with both nice different devices. On EVB portugal, the model sold are able to control Battery's ESR. That's simple. If they afford battery's ESR measurement, they have not protection diode against overvoltted capacitors. If they can NOT check battery ESR, that means there is no diode protection, and so you need to be carrefull with those one. Presence of diode or not is not a real concern, because you can install it your self, or remove it your self, according to be cautious when using the device to check some battery's ESR. Precision of such device is not we are expected for, but something near from a low or low esr. As I told earlier, such values can depend of stable frequency, different electronic treatements, and unless you have a high metrologic devices, ESR is not easely define, because all those parameters. Electronics guys need just an idea of ESR. The bad idea is to measure ESR with " component tester" from AliExpress. Those device can not provide a good value. Before purchasing some device, be sure if they are protected against volted capacitors, or if they are able to measure batterys. They can not make both, because if you have diodes in the entry you can not inject voltage higher than 0,5V. (but you can remove them and inject votlage with a 240ohm R, and shortcircuit it). Anyway, if you're not sure, you can remove, or solder your self double power diode on entry, to protect your own equipment if not already protected. See you soon.
