There is a large wooden drop with a sniper landing on this trail towards the bottom of it now. It was put in a few months ago. There is no ride around and it’s a little difficult to get by if you are not hitting it. Good luck!

That’s awesome! If you are looking for a little more flow and less technical rock stuff, Mt Tzouhalem in Duncan is a great spot. I always have a good time when I go there. Another fantastic edition locally is the Jordie Lunn Bike Park in Langford. Great selection of different kinds of trails that a very smartly set up to be lapped with minimal effort. Good luck!

That was Mitch that hit it. I agree that the landing is a bit sniper for my pay grade. If I did hit it though, I would do it on my regular (not ebike) bike.

When Lewis Buchannon dropped chains he was pushing on a bit harder. Slower runs he was ok
@ThisIsGoingDownhill11 ай бұрын
As stated in the description, this video was just for fun and simply making light of the “controversy “. It’s no secret that Lewis Buchanan is hard on bikes. It’s also no secret that he is a top notch rider. His ethics and morals have come into question at times and some might say he hunts views like they are prey. We didn’t pick a flow trail to try this out on. That trail is extremely rough with lots of square edge hits. But you are absolutely correct, the rider in this video (Mitch) was not riding as hard as he could or as hard as Lewis in his video. But he did put the bike through some heavy landings and Rocky terrain which would have thrown the chain if it did come off as easily as thought.

A 2mm spacing difference apparently was the culprit for the chain dropping. Haven't heard much about the Pirelli tires (ridden atleast in the PNW), what's the early consensus?
@ThisIsGoingDownhill11 ай бұрын
Interesting. I never saw that explanation. Was that Pinkbike or that Lewis Buchanan guy? Or Trek themselves? Mitch is only two rides into those tires, both in pretty peak conditions. May be too early to really say. They do have some pretty aggressive, deep lugs though.
@NicholasBatten-cl7qw11 ай бұрын
I work for trek and I’ve owned this bike for about 3 months, I can confirm that there was spacer issues on some of the early models sold. Unfortunately those were the bikes that the media got their hands on and had all of the chain drops. I do wish that Trek Corporate acknowledged this issue. Overall, it’s a great bike.

I got the 2022 Switchblade and I feel that rear to be a bit on the slack side which I do feel while pedaling uphill because of a light frontend. I run it primarily in high position because of just that simply because I pedal a lot of uphill just to get to any trails, and I hate feeling like my butt is just sliding off the rear. The other thing is how easily it smashes pedals/crankarms/BB in the low position. As I am still running the stock 175mm crankarms and that I run flats as well which do hit more stuff because of extra size, I am going to get a set of 165mm crankarms for next season and see if I can test out the low position again. Trying to shimmy the seat further forward than in the maxed setting is just a bad idea on the stock WTB Volt saddle at least, because my saddle started creaking like crazy after just a short while like so many others. I've filled up all the cavities with epoxy, and it at least seems to be working so far. Took me a long time to figure out the seat was the culprit because the sounds shot out from the stem area.

I semi regret posting this at the time that I did. The area will be official soon but is not yet sanctioned. We got wind that the jumps at the bottom were being removed, so we were motivated to finally do them. Sadly days later the powers that be removed the jumps. In hindsight posting them was not necessary and may have led to them being demolished faster than they might have been.

I think they may have been taken out the same day as this was filmed. A CRD truck pulled up but left only to return as we were leaving. We had a feeling that something was going down the previous week. That’s why we felt a sense of urgency to finally do them.

@@petercorrigan2070 Yeah I was under the impression that was private land as well. I thought that’s how they survived so many years in the first place. My buddy from the video was happy we were able to document the jumps before they got destroyed.
