Anyone deal with tons of gas bubbles? They move around anywhere you look and cover the surface with what looks like hundreds or thousand even of small some clear some black bubbles? Ive been to the eye doctor so many times now and they say my eyes are healthy. I really don't know what to do it is ruining my life.

I’m 80 and have had Cataract and Vitrectomy this year (2024). I had a “wrinkled Retina” in my right eye, which I’ve had for a period of time which caused the vision in that eye to be a little distorted. I didn’t really notice it until I looked a one of the line graphs up close. The lines are a little wavy in the center of the chart. So, I had both Cataracts done, and the Vitrectomy surgery the following month. Like the man says, do your research! Find the good doctors, and you’ll be fine.

I had the vitreous removed from my right eye and had saline to replace it. Floaters are all gone.....BUT....that gave me a quick cataract. My vision turned real dark a few months after that surgery. I then had to have the cataract removed where my cataract surgeon didn't do a very good job. I think he replaced my lens with one that didn't match the left eye. When I look at an object with my left eye that is 10 feet away...the same object with my right eye that had the cataract is 5 feet away. I complained to my doctor and he said I would get used to it. Well, guess what? 5 years later and it's still the same and I can't see right. He said he can't replace the lens. Eye strain 24/7 now.

I had a vitrectomy due to recurring bleeding in my eye after a retinal tear. The tear could immediately be fixed with a laser treatment. However in the months following, a blood vessel next to the repaired retinal tear would rupture again and again, usually after exertion. The blood slowly cleared after the first two ruptures but no longer cleared larger blood accumulation after subsequent ruptures. So similar occlusion like in the case of floaters really disturbed my vision. The Vitrectomy cleared this up and during the operation they could laser the leaky vessel so that bleeding would not recur. However in conjunction with the vitrectomy surgery I elected to also have my natural lens replaced with a high quality Zeiss lens to avoid a second operation later for later cataract surgery. As I had already required age related reading glasses the new lens actually improved my vision in medium and far ranges, and it improved at closer range as well. So in many cases if you already need glasses and cataracts is in your future I opted to include lens replacement at the same time as lens replacement would improve my vision even before cataracts developed. As I will likely later need cataract surgery in the other eye in the future a near sighted lens replacement in this eye can then free me from needing reading or driving glasses in the future. so I wouldn’t say that having cataract surgery reduces your current vision it can actually improve it quite substantially with proper high-quality lens selection. I’ve spoken to many people many who have had lens replacements which significantly improved their vision such that many no longer required glasses thereafter.

So u don't have any floaters now?
@jet1748
@jet1748 2 ай бұрын
@@SeraSan- no floaters, just other 2 other unwelcome surprises. Mainly due to the retina becoming wrinkled (macular pucker) which resulted in horizontal and vertical lines looking wavy. Only solution is a second vitrectomy where they peel the retinal membrane off to relieve the the tension that caused the puckering. Can’t really say that the macular pucker was caused by the vitrectomy surgery but it may have accelerated the issue.

I disagree about optometrists; good ones care and have good knowledge about eye health in general. I agree with you about laser vitreolysis, as with you, after three sessions, it did not work at all for me. Worse, the dummy wound up putting a hole in my natural lens. A PVD (Posterior Vitreous Detachment) several years ago left me with severe floaters. As I watch your video, I am also one day past vitrectomy and lens replacement. It’s a bit painful and a major pain in the keister, getting around on one eye, but I’m hopeful that it will be worth it! Although I can barely see through the eye now, I can tell that the sky is much bluer!😊 I would not recommend vitrectomy without lens replacement.

Thank you very much for the update! Could you elaborate on the 'eye stroke' incident that you had? It happened at random? Did you continue to see any visual disturbances for a while or just 1 or 2 times? Did the doctor find evidence of that in your eye? I ask because I had something very similar with no final conclusion as to the cause. However, an minor eye stroke was suspected as a possibility. So I'm interested to hear a bit more about that as well.
