Hi! Can you please tell me what specific tools to buy? I'm clueless about this stuff. I have a socket set but it's tiny compared to the one you're using and it's not moving the bolts. Please tell me exactly what to ask for at Home Depot!
@smitheys7 күн бұрын
Yeah, I get it. I would actually get these tools from harbor freight if you don’t plan on using them very often and you can save some money. The tools I would get: deep well socket set with a 3/8 or 1/2 ratcheting socket wrench. I prefer 3/8 because it’s little smaller but still strong enough for most uses. The 1/2 is bigger/stronger for more heavy duty jobs. I would also get a 3/8 or 1/2 breaker bar if you aren’t very strong. I would also get 3/8 or 1/2 extension set. The extensions are to give you more space to get the bolts out and usually come it like a 4 pack. You would only need one extension between 4 to 6 inch extension so you don’t hit your hands on anything, but your choice. They sell extension single or in sets. Recap: socket set, ratchet socket wrench, breaker bar, & extensions in 3/8 or 1/2 inch. Whatever size you get, get everything in the same size. They have other sizes but for this I’d say stick with one of those sizes. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions just let me know. I’ll help how I can.
@samanthas39097 күн бұрын
@@smitheys thank you so much for this! Yeah I am pretty weak and have some injuries. So in that case, would the 1/2 inch ratcheting socket set be better than the 3/8 inch set since I am weak?
@samanthas39097 күн бұрын
Also how long should the breaker bar be?
@smitheys7 күн бұрын
@samanthas3909 no, the 1/2 is bigger and heavier. You can get whatever you want, but I wouldn’t. I use 3/8 on pretty much everything unless it needs a lot of force or for bigger bolts. The breaker bar helps you by giving you more leverage to break bolts free. It’s just a long bar with an adapter on the end for the sockets. You can see which one you like more at the store. Most places have socket wrenches not in the box and just have a bar code on them, especially harbor freight (if you go that route). I’m always broke, so I take that route quite a bit! Haha. Home depot has good tools though, can’t really go wrong. Everywhere you go they have sets with all this in them, so that’s an option too.
@smitheys7 күн бұрын
And the length of the breaker bar… anything between 6-12 inches. Judgement call there. Longer gives more leverage but too long is kinda pointless, especially for this job. The main bolt that’s hard to get out is the bolt holding down the seatbelt because of, yeah, safety.

Is there any issue with the batter being a starting battery and not a deep cycle ?
@smitheys16 күн бұрын
There hasn’t been any issues with mine but you can easily have problems if you run a whole house. Just be mindful of what you’re using and if it’s a lot just install a second battery just for accessories. Also you can have a deep cycle battery as your starting battery. Deep cycle is just a type of battery.

I'm looking to get a RAV4 specifically because I'd be able to camp in it. Is the setup here easily removable? There are times I'd need to use the back seats. I'm wondering how hard it is to switch it out (I'm a single mom of college aged kids - I'm hoping to find something I can switch in and out by myself). Maybe there's another video that I missed, that shows this?
@smitheys22 күн бұрын
Awesome! Yeah, anything can be modified to be removable. Technically mine isn’t but it’s only being held in with 2 screws, so yes and no. Check out this video, shows the build process for the most part: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHyZdJRtl62VgpI

Hi, What is the range distance to start the car? Can you add some device to extend the range?
@smitheysАй бұрын
So with just the kit, your range is however long your stock keyless is now. They do make an extender that works a mile or 2 away and they also make another kit to unlock it with your phone with unlimited miles (connects to a cell network, if you have service of course). I have this kit and the extender kit, here’s the install on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqG6oYaLop2cjbs

I saw it trying to boot up but I guess I didn’t give it enough time?? I filled my tank and then went to leave and the screen never came on again but my music thumb drive still worked. I could still turn up the volume and change songs, I just couldn’t see what was playing. A month later the music stopped, then 2 weeks later the lights in the buttons went out. It was slowly dying every month! Haha. Hope your new unit works great! Thanks for watching and sharing. Didn’t know Amazon had warranties and that they are worth it.

Yeah, remote start is standard with the higher trims nowadays. Everything I buy is lower trims because I don’t like what comes with the higher trims especially the higher prices they want for it.
