Hello great video. Do you think I will be able to play lilys theme? I have around 2 years of experience and some pieces I play are various waltzes of chopin and some of his nocturnes. I also know alla turca and have performed it on stage. All of those pieces were my teachers recommendations. Do u think I'll be able to learn lilys theme or should I learn some pieces of the easy tier first?

Thanks! It's a great arrangement, it honestly varies so much. If your cousin is just starting out it will take a considerable amount of time to make progress at all with it, I would recommend learning easier pieces first to build fundamentals first! Or even learn easier arrangements of victory before pietschmanns. If you watch my series on pietschmann rankings you can see which ones to have a go at and you can see where victory is :)

Great video once again, but I'm wondering how the different tiers align with piano grades. Are they all well above grade 8 level or are some lower than that? I'm around abrsm grade 5 and just thinking when I could start learning some easier Pietschmann covers. Thanks
@TDuncPiano7 күн бұрын
Thank you! That's a very good question... I would say that any of the covers in ss and divine are grade8+, hard to god level some may be considered grade 8 but mostly 7's. The medium ones are around 6/7 and the easy ones can be as low as grade 3, but max 5 I'd say. Then again it's a lot of different to the typical pieces you'd do for abrsm exams. But I think that's roughly the levels :)

Okay, so if Interstellar is an easy one... I'm a bit screwed. :D Well, I managed to play it (although not perfectly), and since I have no music theory background (purely autodidact, need to play by memory only), I am still proud of that ahah. Now I am learning Dune 2, which seems to be WAY more difficult. Oh, and pity that Journey of Life is that difficult too. The part at 1:03 is soooo damn catchy! But right after Patrik goes brrr with all those thirty-second notes played from all the octaves a piano can possibily have.
@TDuncPiano11 күн бұрын

Personally I think interstellar is not as easy as the other two, especially for people who don't want to be classically trained. I would argue no time to die is easier purely because of it's nature being in e minor meaning the arpegios are more comfortable for the hands and they are also slower forcing the player to have them clean in order to play
@TDuncPiano13 күн бұрын
Good observation! Always appreciated on my channel thank you. I agree with you, no time to die is slightly easier and of course the e minor key is more manageable (something I forgot to consider). Interstellar is definitely pushing the boat out a little bit, but if you can get passed the hard sections at the end you'll be doing very well.

@pianovoss240022 күн бұрын
I feel like i'm the only person who thinks time is way harder than say interstellar! The jumps are way harder and the fact that you have to do jumps and then hit two notes simultaneously with your thumb (which is insanely hard to get accurately) make it much harder in my opinion. Interstellar, whilst having a lot of contrary motion at the end is the exact same chordal patterns you learn earlier in the song and so you can atually learn that part quite quickly. I think the only real challenge in interstellar is learning the scalic run section, but even that isn't aas hard as it looks. So i agree that interstellar is a good start, but because it includes the same jumping technique as time but in a more manageable way, i think time should be switched out with something else that has both hands doing big chord jumps which is a very common occurence in patrik's songs. I'm not sure if any in your easy tier list actually make use of that though. I love the concept of your videos man and am enjoying your takes and thinking of my own opinions! Good work, keep it up!
@pianovoss240022 күн бұрын
Also, where's the tier list you said was linked below? Can't find it. Thanks
@TDuncPiano21 күн бұрын
Yes I see where you're coming from, time can definitely be challenging especially if octave movement isn't the most comfortable. I might be a little biased in that regard as I have been practicing octaves for a while and don't tend to find movement like that too difficult, but I do hear you. I have thought that interstellar whilst being rather long, was fairly manageable and I'm glad you agree! Great one to start with, time is good for learning jumps/hand crossing and naruto is great for LH dexterity :) thanks for watching, I appreciate you!

So the first thing I can say is that you are very cool and professional, and you can really learn a lot. And what I can also say is that the journey of life is also my absolute favorite. I never thought I could get so addicted to a piano piece, but here it happened. Just this melody from 3 : 50 is so stunning, and the arpeggios top everything! Actually, the piece tops everything from start to finish. I tried to learn it and it was really hard, but I got it pretty much right and I'm almost done. Why don't you give it a try ?
