Grateful that my son-in-law introduced the Carnivore diet to me that I started on 2/1/24 and the benefits keep me on it...

There was a full medical study on a group of arctic workers that got stuck in the ice for a year. They couldn't leave for that season in the snow in the 1950's (1956 I think). They only ate seal meat and blubber. But I can't find it. I thought I book marked it.

Although i haven't been sticking to the proper human diet for a while. I did manage for a few months last year. Many improvements happened. Lab work was way better. HDL/triglycerides ratio was almost at 1. Since, those numbers are worse. Keto/carnivore really does do wonders. Got to find my way back. It tough when there's no support from the spouse.

Looking at the timeline, I think Ansel Keys didn't have much to do with the failure of the study to gain wide acceptance. I believe rather that Steffanson was up against a religious bias - the Adventists, especially Kellogg, were advocating for low meat because it stimulated lust - which was a sin. It got lumped in with Prohibition - not legally, but the avoidance of sin was being overly promoted at the time. Ansel Keys didn't do his Seven Countries study until 1958.

How do you get enough calcium if you can’t eat dairy? 🥛 e.g lion diet? 🦁

@@asbestosflake5749 Cook Instapot beef rib bones. Don't trim the fat and the resulting broth and fat is fantastic. I put salt to taste and time them about 40 minutes.Fish out the bones with the meat attached & then I put the whole pot in the fridge. Once the fat is solid I take it off and eat it with leaner cuts of beef and have a cup of warm bone broth or use it for a base to make other types of soups for my none-carnivore family members. All the connective tissue on the ribs make it richer and more filling than a long bone or joint broth . Adding cow feet and ligament is good as well but rib bones are under $3 per # which is less than half of what shank or ligament cost. I used to buy all these less than desirable parts for almost nothing but with the influx of immigrants the prices are higher than top sirloin or chuck roast. I buy rib eye for the same price as short ribs, another low cost beef cut before 2010. 9$ per # is what it cost where I live.

I went to the Dr. Told him I started carnivore diet due to my unexplainable health issues after many tests. He agreed and said he thought that was a good idea. Agreed to do BW in a few months to look for any vitamin deficiencies. I was honestly shocked! I thought he was going to lecture me about it but proceeded to explain the mechanism of action, and that it helps people!

Pemmican and jerky (both homemade) are my go to snacks and 'on the road' meal solution. There are times where I've travelled for work and eaten only pemmican for 3-4 days while doing very physically demanding work. The first time I decided to eat pemmican alone for a prolonged period, I remember sitting in my hotel at 11pm after three solid long days of work and thinking, I could keep going!
