Nice shed, I also have a buddy heater, they put out a lot of heat, but I warn you they also put out a lot of moisture, which will rust your tools. I would really recommend you get one of those cheap diesel heaters that exhaust to the outside, and provide dry heat. Just an idea. otherwise I commend you on turning a simple shed into someplace that you can enjoy being in.

@@ironoutdoorsman6646 fireplace does well on startup fire but when I add wood after it’s 3/4 burned it goes out pretty easy when door sealed and bypass shut, do you leave bypass open for a little after adding wood? I use 2-3 year seasoned oak. I also leave the air control all the open (pushed in). And the glass on corners get dirty pretty fast wonder if that’s a damper closed to soon issue also. And I noticed installer left an air control rod and in the instructions it says to discard the pre attached one, is the pre attached smaller than the one you actually are supposed to use ? Maybe could be reason fire wants to die down so easy is air control rod to short and not allowing to fully open. The one he left is 5 7/8 in. Only thing I think I might have done differently was to run the pipe for the exhaust up the chimney above the roofline. That would have helped reduce the noise a bit more. In theArmy, we bured our TOC generators below grade to direct and deflect the noise upwards, or put it behind a partition ,

Same setup here. Running a Westinghouse 12.5k gas w/remote start. As a Electrician, please remove the 50amp male plug from the female plug when not in use. The central AC unit I’m assuming you are referring to is just a condenser unit. It does not route outside air into your house. There is no issue with the generator exhaust being close to it.

50 amps should be able to run your HVAC and maybe your entire house. Running the attic fan and all the ceiling fans are pulling a lot. I'm putting my West 9500 on a small work shed that has a small window AC and portable oil electric heaters for the winter. I'm in Oklahoma and we get ice storms and a few tornadoes, power outages are rare to last very long but when they do, it's a few days. I've done the amp's I'll pull and I figure as long as I don't have anything but my led lights and make sure I don't run power where I don't need it, I'll be able to run the entire house including the chest freezer in the garage. I did the power for my work shed myself, and probably could do my house, but I'll have an electrician do the hook up and sub panel. Don't want any issue with a back feed that could kill some one. Anyway, I'll test it with getting my back feed block on and have all my home breakers off. I'll start with my most important which will be the HVAC, then only the master bedroom, bathrooms, kitchen, tv/living room. I'll continue till I get a breaker snap and I'll either change my load priority or know that's where I stop. Nice vid by the way.

You had suggested I watch this video. Thank you!!! This helps me out so much. My generator is a Firman. The flange on the exhaust is rather small. You used a 1 1/2” galvanized pip if I recall correctly. What did you use or fabricate to attack the pipe with out disrupting the compression of the generator? Thanks for your patience and your response’s.
@ironoutdoorsman6646

All i did was weld the threaded flange directly to the muffler centering over the exhaust opening.. then i was able to screw on the galvanized pipe into the flange and through the hardy board and out the encloser. Thats all i did.. compression doesnt seem to be affected much at all

⚠️Here is a very important announcement when using portable generators: Always remember to follow the generator safety instructions whenever you use your portable generator. This is just a reminder for everyone’s safety. All generator safety rules need to be followed carefully Here are the generator safety tips: 1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Children often get curious about anything so we should keep an eye on them to also make sure they’re not wandering towards the generator. 2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house. 3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules. 4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2LNhWZ3g6qBrKs and here is a video about keeping others safe when using generators. All generator safety rules need to be followed carefully. Hope this helps.

Just created my shed based on this design. I'm at the point where I have the attic fan installed (no battery) on the left and one vent on the other. Ran a test and the generator seemed to run great. I have a Ryobi 6500W generator so the exhaust, outlets and gas switch are in weird spots. My exhaust faces the front left so I put my exhaust fan on the left and vent cover on the right for inbound. My shed is outside in the backyard covered by two walls about 2 feet away from the house. My question anyone found it necessary to install the exhaust pipe or whether the fan would ventilate the fumes sufficiently? I've gotten this far so I'll do it if needed but the less I have to do the better. I'm also concerned about noise levels because I'm in a residential area so I want the least amount of cutting as possible. Anyone else make a shed for Ryobi generators or have any input?
@ironoutdoorsman6646
@ironoutdoorsman6646 3 жыл бұрын
The main reason for the exhaust pipe is heat displacement.. it dirrects both fumes and heat out of the encloser so its not nearly as hot and helps the unit run easier and more efficient.. i wouldnt worry about noise for your neighbors at all because 9 times out of 10 your nieghbors wil be running theirs because of a mass power outage..
