Hi Martin, water in the boot area is often caused by the seals in the rear light units leaking, your rust issues are quite typical, mine was slightly worse than yours, it is all fixable, good luck.

Hi Martin, most of them are rusty underneath, if you want to asses the true condition underneath it is a good idea to remove the sill covers and bumpers, you will probably find rust.

Wow wondered who bought this off eBay. You got an absolute bargain im really regretting not buying this myself. However looking forward to watching your videos on it. From the photos underside looked good but wants the usual welding doing on the floor depressions and bung holes. Rear shock mount tops looked like another area and brake lines. Worth taking side skirts off and seeing how much the sill ends have rotted. Drivers side rear usually goes dont know why passenger usually seems better. Mot history sounded like welding had already been done on front arches at bottom. Take arch liners out and inspect for rot anything coming though on the strut tops will be from the inside out where seam sealer has failed and rust started. Big one bulkhead and chassis leg area in lower corners. Even if it wants a fair bit of work i think you've done well here 👍

Nice looking car. I’d do a careful check of the firewall around where the steering column passes through from the cabin. It was a known weak spot on Cavaliers and OG9-3 (&900) we had both of ours in period reinforced by SAAB under a quality claim - whilst out of warranty because they had Full SAAB s/h they did it. Look forward to following how you get on with this one.

Seems like the wrong shift knob? And the climate control shouldn't have been just a S6+ thing. They even had it on the earlier 100 CS from like '91. But this car is in great shape. And don't worry about missing the airbox cover. Like 99% of them are missing it. You bought it just to sell it?

Martyn, Consider Audi S8 Mk 1 rims. There is a cover that goes on the top of the airbox to dress it. It breaks easily when removing it so they are always missing, but have a look at an original Audi press shot of the engine bay to see one. It finishes the airbox beautifully and is worth searching for. Audi may still have a few in stock. Replace all of the rusty screws and bolts under the front of the engine bay, and replace the snapped plastic cover for the injectors. They're always broken because people lean on the middle of the the cover when the metal parts of the engine are too hot for them to touch. Very nice example of the model. Well wear. You'll be hard pressed to find another as good as this at this stage.

Hello from across the pond in the US. Beautiful S6 Avant. I have a pearl 93 S4 sedan and have had a few S6 Avants. This one is spot on. Good upgrades, I have the same taste in OEM+ approach. Would love the info on the 18z caliper bracket. I just adjusted my 034 shifter too. Keep the updates coming because this a a fantastic machine

Hi! Thanks for checking in! Pearl is one of my favourite colours for these, lucky man! The calipers are just Brembo 18z that were fitted to the Porsche Cayenne, and the caliper brackets from Epytech (you'll find them on their website). They're very helpful and ensured I had all the required items, Inc the T4 brake lines. All the best!

Hey Martyn. Great to see your channel - loved the 9000 Aero - always wanted one. I had a 1988 2 door 900 Turbo 8 valve as an 18 year old and loved it for 2 years and then had other cars then bought a 9000 2.0 Turbo for a bit then a few years later after again a couple of different cars had a 9000 CDE LPT. Now I've just turned 50 I'm really wanting to get back into a SAaB as a hobby car - preferably a 900 Turbo 2 or 4 door as I always preferred the squared off rear light clusters than the 3 door - maybe if you've got time you could get in touch if you know anyone that might be interested in selling Thanks 🙂

Thanks Kent, hope all is great with you😁 It's right up there as one of my most favorite cars I've owned: it even has the edge on build quality of my e39 M5 and Alpina B10, the practicality (if not the absolute cargo space) of the V70R and the performance of a (stock!) 9000 Aero, but with a properly iconic engine and a lovely exhaust note - and of course all-weather traction that the others would not get anywhere near. I reckon 350 - 375bhp would be the sweet-spot for this as a properly rapid but unstressed and reliable daily, which actually isn't that expensive to obtain: it's pretty much the same recipe and cost as 9000 tuning.

It's so special... in GB, you did not get the S6 Plus, but you got a S6 2.2 20V with all the special S6 Plus specs. -Black roof S6 Plus -black trims until roof S6 Plus -black glossy outside B, C Pillars, grille, roof rails, door opener inside -odometer S6 Plus -S6 Plus rims -leather alcantara seats Do you know if that package neede to be ordered separately or do all S6 from 1996/97 have the S6 Plus parts? I wished, all other S4 and S6 got these parts. I changed all in my 93 S4 also into S6 Plus. only the seats and odometer is still from the S4.

Hi, thanks for the comment, it is indeed a very special car: Im very happy to have decided not to sell this in the end! It's currently having a suspension refresh (nothing drastic, just Bilstein B8's / Eibach springs / top mounts and bushes). Since this video it also now has a Supersprint system, so no longer 100% stock, but OEM+, and more enjoyable for it. All the best I believe that the run-out models were all Plus Spec, but I may well be wrong - I should do some research.
