Brilliant band. Lucky enough to see them a few years ago in Camden Town. Glen T. is a massively underrated guitarist and singer.

Hearing this in 1968 is what hooked me on Floyd. Saw them all thru the 70s and still listen to a lot- especially the older stuff- but THIS was the start.

Bang on! Do you rthink you could get in the ballpark with a Strymon Lex pedal and feeding a decent piano sample through it?

When we used to play it live in my PF tribute band, we always used the Leslie with 3 mics on it (2 top, one bottom) but he used a Yamaha PFP100 digital piano unless the venue had its own grand. I remember the first venue that we turned up at which had a Kawai grand and we miked it up and it sounded fantastic! You could really hear the difference. You'd get the interaction between the piano mics and the Leslie, as PF did in the studio (and in this video) creating an ambience which you don't get with a DI'd digital piano. I still have the Leslie sitting a few feet away from me. For recording, there are many Leslie simulators around now, which sound great but when you're in the room with the real thing running, it's the 'size' of the sound for want of a better word. It throws the sound out all round, filling the whole room.

Yeah, to get the truly authentic sound, a Binson would be required. I've got an Arbiter Soundette which was Arbiter's poor man's version of the Binson but it doesn't work properly. I've also got a Watkin's Copicat in the loft. I've still got the Compact Duo too, but it's as old as I am and it's in need of a good overhaul, as am I. It's finding people who can repair these instruments nowadays. Plus of course, the Time and Money. See what I did there?!! OK, so the Farfisa wasn't used on 'Money' but it was used on 'Time'. I've got a Wurlitzer EP200 as well and that actually works. That was, of course, used on both, though not the one I own! Sadly. It'd be worth a fortune!
