Useful video ! I actually didn't know at first that the basic TinySA could listen, but it thankfully does. It may not be the brightest way to listen to FM, but sure an unique one. I would assume you are the designer/creator of the TinySA and i would like to thank you for such an affordable tool. With great regards from germany.

Hi Erik. LOve your products, and a long time TinySA4 and TinySA owner and supporter. Was wondering if a user selectable averaging on TinySA Ultra was possible?... its specifically an x2 averaging level that I was wondering about on the unit itself.. Btw your multiband feature.. what a goldnugget..love it. Hope everything is well, not much activity here on your YT channel.

Thank you great video. Perhaps you can help. I have a friend in the UK who has a plug in EMI dirty electricity Line monitor and when it is plugged into the kitchen socket displays a high reading even when everything is switched off. He thinks it could be the suppliers inbound cable. Is there a way to use the Tiny to connect to the Line to check for EMI? RFI ? Piggy backing on the 240v AC 50hz supply?

Hello Erik, I recently purchased a TinySa Ultra and its firmware version is current as of February 2024: TinySA4_v1.4-156-g4eb315d . I have watched about 3/4 of the videos listed on the TinySA web site. I cannot get the instrument to scan frequencies above 800 MHz. How can I get the device to scan up to (hopefully) 2.4 GHz? When I select "Measure" from the main menu and select "More" and check on "FM" it askes for the center frequency and then the "modulation frequency 50 Hz to 20 KHZ" then "frequency deviation 3 - 500 kHz." What do these mean and what values should I select to (for example) monitor North American FM railroad frequencies 160 - 162 MHz? The same happens when I check on "AM" except that the modulation frequency is 500 hz to 10 kHz. In that latter case, what frequency should I select? I have a Canadian Basic with Honours ham radio license. Sincerely, Ian Douglas VE6IWD

Has the TinySA Ultra a faster scan mode at reduced resolution? I am mainly interested in Bio-EMC, for checking with a small directional antenna in which RF band a device under test emits. So it would be useful to have a quick check mode to see the coarse range of an emission (is it few MHz, 100 MHz or GHz), before scanning slower to identify in detail individual frequencies. Cheapish broadband "EMF" level meters don't show what they actually detect, and because pulsed microwaves do harm at much lower intensities than some shortwave stuff, they are fairly pointless if the type of signal is unknown. A spectrum analyzer is more meaningful.
@ErikKaashoek5 ай бұрын
This is a very interesting question, can I ask you to ask it in the tinySA support group at: groups.io/g/tinysa There are probably multiple persons there with experience in fast scanning
@cyberyogicowindler24485 ай бұрын
@@ErikKaashoek At the moment I haven't bought the TinySA Ultra yet. But AFAIK in its price range the only similar device "SA6" appears otherwise questionable (a clone of unknown origin). Handheld Aaronia Spectran did "fast" scanning, but early ones (V2?) likely cheated a bit and their newer models are already much more expensive.
