They didn’t compress the ridges of thinset. That’s generally because they were trying to build up the height, but they also only applied thinset to the tile and not the floor. Definitely a hack job.

Looks good question with the half an inch foam and the subfloor once you put the oak wood does it sit higher then the front door or does it sit even

Thanks. I had to take that into consideration and make sure the front door set at the new subfloor level. I also had to make sure it was flashed properly and water proof!

@MattFreytag so did you have to raise the door up wards That's what I'm trying to do myself I have a concrete floor and if I put the door in with flashing it won't sit high enough and I wanted to know what can you put under the door to brace it upwards

Yes. I just set the door on top of the new subfloor. I had to alter the header above it just a bit since the door was raising up 1 1/4” (1/2” foam + 3/4” advantech)

We did it, except for the thermostat was different , we couldn't use the one that came with the parts, the element was cracked so hopefully it will be ok without replacing the thermostat 🤞

@@arxdallas8368 It wasn’t easy. I drilled a hole thru the goal post and put some kinda rod i found thru it then hit it with a hammer to get them apart.

I guess what he said may work but us old dudes use denatured alcohol. Costs 1/10th and a few old rags and it wipes away real good. I slop paint on like Mrs. Piggy at an all you can eat buffet and even weeks later it wipes off easy with Denatured Alcohol. And you can use it for alt fuel in stoves and such unlike mr clean wipes. So go pay more or try Denatured Alcohol.

Is that tongue and grove foam board under the plywood? I want to install solid hardwood floors in my master bedroom, but it's concrete underneath all of the carpeting materials. I've seen that I can glue it down, but that kind of feels like half-assing it; I've heard the glue can come undone with time. I live in a really dry climate and use refrigerated air, not a swamp cooler, but nailing the boards in just feels more like "doing it right," so I'm looking into options for installing a plywood subfloor first. Your professional opinion would be much appreciated. Thank you!
