I love this movie! Although it is not a high budget movie but it deserve the BEST anti war mini series and it just simply DESTROYED all boring political correctness war (trash) movies. I will rank this movie my second favorite for now, the first one is a Danish war movie "April 9th". Both movies gives me a completely new perspective about World War 2. -Greetings from a Malaysian Chinese.

Naprosto výborně zpracovaný příběh osudu těchto estonských bojovníků, který je často opomíjen nebo vůbec neznán. Hned se mi vybavila událost z Nymburka která se stala 10. 5. 1945 za železničními dílnami kde došlo k popravě Paula Maitli (který je i v tomto filmu zmíněn) společně s příslušníky štábu estonské 20. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (estnische Nr.1) 45. pluku. Tvůrcům tohoto snímku (uniformy, zbraně, technika) herecké obsazení skvělé dávám 10/10 👍

Wonderful series. Many Bosnians and Croatians shared similar fate as members of German military. I remember as a child listening to those stories. Some escaped and joined foreign legion and ended up in Vietnam, as the main character. Some survived but were wounded and disabled and persecuted by the communists.

Great film. It looks like they even used live ammunition on the set, during the scenes of them early on at the firing range, of course. If you zoom in, the ammo the guy is giving to the soldier doesn’t look like blanks. Also, blanks have more muzzle flash and don’t generate much recoil when firing. In the scenes where they shoot the Kar98k bolt action, you can clearly see the rifle recoil and shooter react as if they are shooting live ammo.

Better understanding of the experiences which soldiers go through when it seem you are walking alone.

Бедный эстонец, чуть не убили за форму СС в Чехии))). Там и сейчас могут дать под зад, если встретят символы немецкого нацизма. Только в Эстонии разрешено носить форму СС устраивать праздники.

What "better future"? To be sent to Vietnam, to fight for Evil Uncle Sam? Either you die or ADMIT you're defeated and struggle for your future living in you country. But, alas! many members of the defeated collaboration (collaborating with nazis) armies knew their arses will be hard-spanked after the SSSR army come to retaliate...

I have many MANY WW2 movies and as far as I remember this is the first one that mentions the conscription into the SS. A historical fact often forgotten.

Our Creator projects us to this planet as individuals to live our lives to our own discretion. The simple expedient is. I do not tell you what you should do, you do not tell me. Just wonder why we can not adhere to that simplicity ? Live & let live. Leben und Leben lassen. Same thing, is it not ?
