Really interesting to watch your last couple of vids Andy: First time I did Wetherlam it was via Steel Edge, and first time up Pillar was via the “high level route”. I must have taken the wrong line up from Pillar Rock as I had quite a tricky scramble to do! Is Pillar Rock your last remaining Birkett?

Oh my God, what a fantastic adventure. The Shamrock traverse looks a great route up but not for this old fella. Maybe when I was a bit younger definitely! I'm wondering if Billy is part mountain goat. The way he went up was nothing short of amazing. Well done Billy lad! Pillar Rock looked fantastic. I think I will do an up & down route the way you came down. Stunning scenery from Pillar is just too good too miss. Thanks for sharing Andy & Billy *THE ROCKSTAR*

Fantastic video again Andy , I downloaded the Nordic tune you play and I played it as I sat at innominate tarn looking at great gable it gives it that dramatic and beautiful feel it deserves, will certainly be with me that tune on future walks in lakes thanks mate 👍

Ive seen a few vids doing the Shamrock Traverse but not in so much detail especially regarding the bad step. Very good to know about dropping beneath the step get past it. It looks a fabulous route to Pillar. Ill have to try and get my son to come along and do it as I dont think my missus would be impressed haha. Cheers Andy ATB

Did this a few weeks ago from buttermere and sharp edge the following week. the bad step on this is way more treacherous. I chose the top route near the cliff but will go bottom way next time as you did, looks way safer!

What a day, from sunrise to sunset and such a superb video... and I know I keep repeating myself but just when I think it can't get any better, it does. Love the shots of Billy waiting for dad on the traverse, even though the remembered exposure was giving me the collywobbles! Stunning footage from Robinson Cairn and all the rock architecture of Pillar Cove. Gorgeous shot of you and the lad against the sunset with that really appropriate quote. Just such terrific and thoughtful touches which sets your videos apart, along with all the practical advice - like the way you don't sugarcoat things. That bad step in the dry is bad enough but in the wet it's like a skating rink and best avoided, as you said.

Superb video and appreciation of one of my favourite wee hills... and not too far from the car for the choir to walk up either! I have sat up there for hours as it's like having an ampitheatre of hills around you, plus the lakes, and as spectacular as the bluebells are, I must admit I love the autumn colours there. That's a lovely beck towards the end, so peaceful and varied, and that fungi looked a bit past its best. Really like the anecodotes you include in your videos of the people you meet too, a nice touch.

That's quite a beginning there to the video, Mr Spielberg! What a wonderful day and a cracking video of a very striking hill, which would be a new hill for me. Cracking views in that autumnal light. Perhaps we should all start a betting pool for how late in the year the shorts will be still be out?! 🤣 Agree with you about the 'boring' comments on hills - even if the route is easy or a bit plodding, like on that road, you've still got the views . Boring is being indoors!

Hi Andy, superb video, with all the appropriate warnings in there too. Must be 30 years since I went up Pillar that way, not for me nowadays, so wonderful to see the route again in your video. Love watching Billy ❤What a fabulous sunset to end your day too. Pillar is one of my favourites and hope to get up again next year sometime. Hope you'll do the Blackm Head/Black Comb route up Scoat Fell at some point (Scoat Fell 6) a great off the beaten track route, I'd love to see your take on it. Whatever you do, keep on with brilliant videos 👌

Yess another brilliant one andy one I need to do and for sure I will not be going accross that rock wet or dry hahaha good call for billy and nice for showing it marra the drone back on this vid showing up the full valley onto the lake was top notch marra I keep saying this but this is my favourite part of the lakes I no some of my pals don't get it but wow I could just sit up here for hours mate another cracking show around and info on the way defo another rockstar route I will steal at some point 😂 maybe next year now but amazing on piiiar looking over to the scarfel lot and gable clear as owt what a day wouldn't think this is November the weather gods were with you here class mate love it
