OMG...what a great idea - Thanks so much! I came here after struggling for an hour trying to get the duct to fit. I also figured out that I need a 5" duct for a 4" opening.

Here's an idea of the vent maker companies, why don't you make the entire length of the tube like that.? 🧐

Previous dryer install, the clowns couldn't get the hose on at the wall,so they bent the duct inwards to make it fit..then taped it up..now after cleaning out the duct, I'm replacing it with a new diameter hose and it's a bear to get it on... The hard part is getting the hose on the wall vent..it's bigger than the 4" diameter of the hose ! I'm trying again by snipping the hose a few places and getting it in,then taping it with foil...the ring would be extra work. Getting it on the dryer is simple 😊 **** why would they install the wall vent pointing downward!! Why not install it pointing outward towards the dryer for easier install.**** Btw...just ordered a new washer and dryer, due September 9,2024....how much you wanna bet they do the same thing as the previous ones from 7 yrs ago!! 😂😂😂😂😂 unprofessional

I literally want to cry because I cant get this fucking tension ring on the fucking hole of my dryer and its in an impossible position to do it easily. I am losing my mind so i will try this 😭
@Pro-XOKC
@Pro-XOKC 20 күн бұрын
If it's still not working, you can get a "worm gear clamp" at a hardware store. That may be easier because it won't fight you when trying to slip it on the dryer. Those tension rings can be annoying in some cases.

I’m considering getting a stackable washer/dryer. Do I need to relocate my vent outlet to go higher if it’s closer to the floor such as the one on your video? Thanks in advance!
@Pro-XOKC
@Pro-XOKC Ай бұрын
@@gabyluces1413 No it can stay where it’s at so long as you don’t pinch the connecting duct behind the washer/dryer. That few feet of travel down then back up into the wall isn’t a big deal.

Thought it always had to be female into male in the direction of flow? Didn’t you just create a lint collection seam? Let me know.
@Pro-XOKC
@Pro-XOKC Ай бұрын
The seam is nearly negligible in this particular case. You may get a little bit of build up there, but the benefit of having a super tight hold by securing it with a clamp from the outside outweigh any possible slight buildup. The alternative is shoving the flexible duct into the wall port, and that would be significantly worst for lint collection. If you have a better idea, let me know of course.

What happens if there’s a hole in it
@Pro-XOKC
@Pro-XOKC 2 ай бұрын
If the hole is on the end, use a diagonal cutter to snip the end off down a bit to a fresh section. If it’s in the center, it’s best to just buy a new duct. If you don’t want to do that, the metal tape in the video can be used to wrap the area with the hole. Pull it taut, wrap the tape, then slowly collapse it again so the tape takes the shape of the duct.

I just cleaned out my vent duct. It hasn’t been done in 20 years since the house was built. I used one of those $20 kits. It worked pretty well. Any tips on using those?

Yeah here’s how I like to do it… 1. Attach hose to dryer. 2. Push hose onto vent outlet on wall. 3. Lacerate hand on vent outlet. 4. Go to ER for sutures. 5. Come home trim bloodstained aluminum from end of hose. 6. Attach hose to vent outlet. 7. Try to repair tear in hose with metal tape. 8. Tape the hose in place. 9. Move dryer back in place. 10. Observe that hose disconnected from dryer and is now crushed. 11. Put tools back. Drink. Give up.

A good 50 years ago owners were warned NOT to use that flexible junk because lint accumulates in it like crazy!!!!!!
@Pro-XOKC
@Pro-XOKC 5 ай бұрын
I’ve cleaned over 5,000 dryer vents and can tell you that there is little difference in accumulation between the rigid, semirigid, and flexible connecting ducts. Plus these newer flexible ducts have a Teflon-like lining that helps prevent build up. Additionally, the flexible ones offer three key benefits that the others don’t: they can bounce back if accidentally pinched, they can compress better in tight spaces, and they seal better to the dryer and wall ports.

I am cleaning my vent and I want to pop the side, can’t seem to get the front to open. Plus the bigger problem , How to get out of the back of dryer. If I angle enough to slip through, tube slips off. Seems to be a good size, if I wanted to live behind the dryer. I’m thinking to get my step stools and go over top! I’m only 78 yrs young. What you think? Any advice? 😀

@Pro-XOKC
@Pro-XOKC 9 ай бұрын
I use #1 jets and jet extenders so the water flow almost immediately hits the carpet. I never get a bunch of steam since doing that. My machine gets to 200+ degrees very quickly, and my wand thermometer shows like 140-160 at the wand. If I increased the water flow, it would be visible, but I get it dry faster with the lower flow jets.

What did you use to agitate or just dwell time?
@Pro-XOKC
@Pro-XOKC 9 ай бұрын
Just dwell time. No carpet pro believes me, but I get better results w/o a crb. These new chems seem to suspend the dirt and it lifts easily, whereas when I agitate, it grinds the dirt back down into the fiber and doesn't do as well. I noticed that like a year ago and haven't used a crb since. Just my experience.
