I'm honestly so confused. People asked for a box camera (a style of camera that has to be built out), and now some people are upset it has to be built? The URSA IS a box camera that has built in ND, flip out screen, 2 full size XLR, and more. Because of those extra features it costs more and is a little bigger. This is the opposite of that, a camera that can be cheaper because all those features are removed. The screen is there for the menus and maybe an AC who would stand to the side of the camera. Everything about the camera is designed for a build, just like a RED or Z CAM. If you want this sensor in a body that needs less building, that's the Cinema 6k.

Modern lenses take the fun out of photography and can be so expensive, but vintage glass has no electronics to stuff up are tougher and more reliable. For example Nikon 1 lenses stuff up the apature iris will stick and are next to useless, so by using adapters and vintage glass you no longer have to throw away your perfectly good Nikon 1 camera bodies. The Nikon J5 has a working light meter but the Nikon 1 V1 does not, so this will teach you how to use an external light meter and teach you how to bracket and with time you wont even need your light meter for most of your photography. But i still advise to have a camera with dedicated lenses as well. This is only my opinion. I now have bought myself a Nikon Zfc and have ordered its first adapter PK to Z mount, i will buy more adapters as required, cant wait to put some vintage glass on it.

Stop boasting around Mr @derryk1 . You’re saying as if “Autofocus” ain’t a Pro tool? Then talk the cameras manufactures out of it, so they don’t work on that in their next releases! KZbinrs could be pro as well, and there’s a bunch of them out there who make way better money than you make! Not only people in the film industry are pros.

Any chance you could review the Ulanzi Video Fast Heavy Duty Tripod? Was just released about 2-3 months ago. Supposedly it addresses lots of the flaws of the Smallrig and has advanced features like the Sirui but at around the price of the Smallrig one. Would love to see what you think about it! (And how it would compare to the Pineta Peak and to just mounting a gimbal on an ordinary tripod as a baseline test).

The HDMI placement and lag is very annoying, but I use an external monitor anyway, closing the LCD to save some battery. Not ideal, they should do something about it. About the desqueezing issue: I can’t try it, because I don’t have any anamorphic, but what if you don’t apply the desqueeze on camera and let the monitor do the work? Is it possible?

Autofocus is nice to have? Yes. It’s is a deal breaker? Not for me. I’ve shot tons of things on different systems, and I regretted not having good autofocus just a couple of times. And when you shoot a big project, usually it’s on cinema lenses, ergo no AF at all. What I’m trying to say is that using AF is, most of the time, laziness or inability to pull manual focus. Not all the time, I agree that sometimes it’s AF or nothing, but on professional shooting? Get good at manual focus (you can use it even on a gimbal with the right tools)
@AnthonyRodriguezz
@AnthonyRodriguezz 16 күн бұрын
I would agree with half of what you said. To say “most of the time” it’s laziness or lack of skill is just flat out not true. I think the differentiator here is that people are thinking merely as artists/camera operators and not business owners/entrepreneurs when it comes to how they operate gear and handle client work
@fedzciulla
@fedzciulla 15 күн бұрын
@@AnthonyRodriguezzI have to agree with you. I’m merely a camera operator, and I don’t care about most of the things other professionals, like content creators, seems to rely on. I understand the different approach to work, I’d just like for more people to make reviews and gears comparisons bearing in mind that not all professionals works the same way. I think sometimes it’s off putting how much creators tend to put an emphasis on some aspects that many other workers just ignore, resulting in very unbalanced reviews and a skewed perception of some gears (not your reviews thou, they’re good). Ultimately many brands’ focus shift to the majority’s claims and many professionals feels they’re paying more money for technology geared towards just one kind of user. Really my two cents here…

In prores is easier to work with, even on weak PC, without using a proxy. In addition, the picture is more voluminous, more colorful, and more interesting, including due to the increased dynamic range. With these settings, it is easier to do color correction.
@AnthonyRodriguezz
@AnthonyRodriguezz 21 күн бұрын
I understand the pc thing… although if you’re a working professional, you should have a beefed up computer anyways. Regarding the better image, that is simply not true. The color fidelity “bump” is VERY small and for 99% it doesn’t not matter at all and never will because they are pushing their cameras that far for it to matter. Also, the dynamic range is unaffected by shooting in ProRes
@masterfangeek6689
@masterfangeek6689 21 күн бұрын
@@AnthonyRodriguezz If there is a choice, take more professional photo and video equipment, but with a less powerful computer, I will most likely prefer a camera with files that will work perfectly on this computer. In addition, it is unlikely that Prores has little significant improvements in the picture. There is a possibility that it depends on the shooting conditions, among other things, and the increased bitrate will clearly improve the picture.

Fantastic video! I have the BMCC6k. Would you suggest I get the L mount version or PL along with a PL -> L mount adapter? I am gravitating toward the L mount, because Im reading about having to potentially shim the lens if it ends up not being sharp at infinity. You also talk about the adapter choice contributing greatly to the vignetting. Wouldnt getting the L mount version defeat that headache and just provide with the best possible lens in this case?

With the focus peaking the 6K is a dream to pull focus with. I am constantly amazed at how scared folk are of putting their hand on the lens. And it is a ton of fun to make pictures this way. The biggest point I think that is missed is that a hybrid camera while being technically capable of doing as good a job just has too much stuff in the way. It’s a design problem. The BM is designed so every control is at hand and predictable so it flows with your shoot. It makes a huge difference in usable footage.

I think the issue with the internal NDs is that it's more difficult to do those with a mirrorless mount. It's not impossible, but much more difficult to do when you have much less space between the back of the lens and the sensor. If you look at their cameras with internal ND its the Pocket 6K Pro and Ursa 12Ks. What are the mount options available in those? PL, EF, and LPL which have flange distances of 52mm, 40mm, 44mm respectively. The L mount has a flange distance of just 20mm and M43 is 19.25mm. They already have to fit an OLPF there so squeezing an ND wheel in there is complicated.

@myownfriend23
@myownfriend23 14 күн бұрын
@@AnthonyRodriguezz You're correct. I kind of forgot what I said when I posted my first comment and while I still think flange distance makes it slightly more difficult, I don't think it's the primary reason the 6K FF doesn't have ND. The difference between it and the DJI is that the DJI has space for the ND filters to retract above and below the sensor. The 6K Pro has a significantly smaller sensor that's almost half the height of the sensor in the 6K FF. That means that you can stack two of the 6K Pro's ND filters in the same vertical space as the 6K FF's sensor. In order to fit the 6K Pro's ND filter system into the 6K FF, it would need twice the vertical space. Also I believe DJI's 6K sensor is just short of a typical full frame size.
@myownfriend23
@myownfriend23 14 күн бұрын
Just checked and the DJI seems to only use a (roughly) 17:9 area of it's sensor so if it still has a width of 36mm (it might not), it's effective height would be just 18.98mm. So at max it's only 46% taller than the 6K Pro's sensor (12.99mm) and 21% shorter than the 6K FF's sensor (24mm).
