I've fished the aquaduct my whole life. Wind gap was always fun with some beers. Best spot is to park upstream from a ladder. I watched a family with 2 kids around 12yrs old jumping off of a bridge into the duct then swimming to the ladder 😖. Made us so sick to our stomachs to watch them we left. I didn't want to be giving a drowning interview to the news.

It's funny kids who grew up in the desert grew up swimming in Africa seem to have a sense they know when it's safe and when it's not but kids who grew up in LA although they drink the aqueduct water they come from the other side of the Hill so they don't have the eyes or the ears to see or hear when the aqueduct is safe so when they go swimming they drowned when we go swimming we're having fun sucks to lose a close friend

Damm I almost lost my skateboard that costed 150 I ran and slides but goo thing their was a ladder right next to I I grabbed the ladder than my skateboard

I fish the aqueduct as long as I can remember. I also remember going to San Luis reservoir back when I was like 7 years old , there was rattlesnake everywhere . We used to run on the side of the canal not knowing how dangerous it was .

Fish near a ladder and just downstream from a rope and buoy line.Best baits for Catfish are frozen anchovies and chicken livers.Have fun and be safety minded.

The California Aqueduct is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS especially if you know nothing about the nature of how such canals operate...The Friant-Kern Canal is even MORE dangerous because it's concrete sides are even MORE steep, and also the Friant-Kern Canal is off-limits to the general public due to it's extreme danger! when fishing with your kids...PLEASE HAVE THEM WEAR A LIFE JACKET AT ALL TIMES while around the aqueduct. some sections of the California Aqueduct exceed 36 feet in depth...especially the northern end of the aqueduct from Bethany Reservoir to O'Neal Forbay / San Luis Reservoir, and like the Friant-Kern Canal, the sides of the Northern section of the California Aqueduct are VERY STEEP! and to those who have kids visiting the aqueduct: PLEASE DO NOT allow your kids to play around the area between the service road, and the canal lining...very easy to slip right in..

According to the official California Aqueduct specifications the deepest part of the Duct is 32.8 feet and avg depth of 30 ft.

why are there water level signs that say 325 326 etc what does that mean. Becuase my friends say that they saw when they were building the aquaduct and they say that the machines looked very small when they were building the canal i told my friend how deep u said it was and he is being hard headed about it he says that it cant be 30 to 24 feet deep he says it has to be deeper than that

From what I have heard. Its deepest is 30 feet but the average is about 24 feet.
